Historia
Anna has been assigned a three-week posting on Georgia's isolated Cumberland Island. Despite the breathtaking natural setting, Anna finds time weighing heavily as she works tedious fire pre-suppression duty. Her boring routine is shattered when a sudden plane crash in the inland palmetto thickets calls her and the other members of the fire crew to action. When Anna and the crew investigate, they discover the plane was sabotaged. Suspicions smolder over the accident which killed both the pilot and his passenger, Cumberland's lone law enforcement ranger.

I’m sure the story made sense…before 3/4 of it was chopped away ‘abridging’it.
Revisado: 08-27-24
There was so much of the story removed as to make it unintelligible. Anna pigeon is an established character, this mish-mash stripped her of any of her familiar characteristics, what was more disappointing was the pathetic narration. Cindy Williams was worse than marginal. The characters were indistinguishable, the inflection and pacing were just lame. All in all, I really regret spending a credit on this mess.

Historia
Michael Crichton, creator of Jurassic Park, ER, Twister, and Westworld, had a passion project he’d been pursuing for years, ahead of his untimely passing in 2008. Knowing how special it was, his wife, Sherri Crichton, held back his notes and the partial manuscript until she found the right author to complete it: James Patterson, the world’s most popular storyteller.

Typical collaboration fail.
Revisado: 07-06-24
Crichton has always been overly dramatic, and Patterson, finishing the manuscript after Chrichton’s passing, didn’t do any favors to his legacy.
The worst part? Undoubtedly the over the top narration. Everything at a fever level, all the characters seemingly breathless in anticipation of doom.
I wish now I had read the posted reviews before dropping a credit to buy this turkey.

Excellent in every way.
Revisado: 06-23-24
Craig Johnson, George Guidal and Walt Longmire. A truly excellent combination. Guidal brings the series to life, gives voice to the continuing saga of Longmire, and carries you into the stories like an old friend.
These books are more than murder mysteries, they’re loaded with anecdotes, wonderful natural dialogue, and many times, full of incredible humor.
Thanks to all of them!

Historia
Find the missing. Fear the found. Three months have passed since the aliens' arrival, but little has changed in the skies. Motherships still hover, impervious to attack and communication. Spherical shuttles ferry about with unclear intentions. But the abductions of select humans have ended, and most of those taken have been returned - dazed, incoherent, and prophesying glory or doom, but home where they belong. Still, nine seemingly unconnected people remain missing.

Historia
Bishop is trapped deep inside Montana's Apex Valley along with his injured wife, a shotgun-wielding stranger named Colbrick, and a sneaking suspicion he's never making it back to Chicago. Things no man has seen before haunt the woods. Strange animal species creep behind pine trees, some of them with flashing red tags that blink faster and faster. Giant birds mimic the sound of humans and lord over the sky. Leaf-shaped creatures attack anything that moves and flash vivid colors across their glistening backs.

This book is weak
Revisado: 12-05-23
I was willing to give a try, I was out of credits and…oh well, it was free. The characters were, at once, one dimensional and over done. The premise, that an isolated mountain valley suddenly is overrun by bloodthirsty monsters with no forewarning, everybody apparently dead or missing, that the best idea is to go wandering in the wilderness with a shotgun and a handgun, both wielded by firearm rookies…. It beggars disbelief.
The three hours (yes THREE HOURS) I listened I’ll never get back,

In this Hugo-nominated novel, an alien walks into a museum and asks if he can see a paleontologist. But the arachnid ET hasn't come aboard a rowboat with the Pope and Stephen Hawking (although His Holiness does request an audience later). Landing at the Royal Ontario Museum in Toronto, the spacefarer, Hollus, asks to compare notes on mass extinctions with resident dino-scientist Thomas Jericho.

A quiet and introspective read
Revisado: 12-03-23
I liked the matter of fact tone and approach to the extraordinary circumstances such happenings would give rise to. The discussions and dialogues all rang very true, although some of the main character’s conclusions seem to be reached and motives settled on sigh precious little evidence.
A good expenditure of the credit. And one s heartily recommend,

Much better than I expected
Revisado: 11-29-23
After reading the other reviews I admit to being somewhat skeptical, but I was pleasantly surprised. This wrapped up the trilogy quite nicely, one good guy dies, two bad guys die, a happy scene at the end…
The Presidents speech…meh…and all the necessary review of the previous two, oh well.
Pinter is a wonderful character, the vagaries of Neanderthal marriages came clear and was a normal development of that society.
Bravo!

Historia
In this Hugo-nominated novel, Neanderthal physicist Ponter Boddit brings Canadian geneticist Mary Vaughan back to his world to explore the near-utopian civilization of the Neanderthals. Boddit serves as a Candide figure, the naive visitor whose ignorance about our society makes him a perfect tool to analyze human tendencies toward violence, over-population, and environmental degradation.

Still good
Revisado: 11-28-23
Pinter is a fabulous character, complex, and in many ways, trying.
The dichotomy between the two societies is perhaps insurmountable in the long run.
All in all, the idea is, while not original, still a functional vehicle to carry the plot along. Thankfully only one more in this series, the parallel universe trope will not support it beyond three.

While their bodies are frozen, their minds, still active and awake, are uploaded into a massive quantum computer. The first group are all astronauts, about to leave Earth on a one-way interstellar colonization mission. The second group consists of convicted murderers and volunteers who elect to serve their sentences in a virtual-reality prison.

Really?
Revisado: 11-07-23
This book, and I must assume, the ensuing books in this series are so cliche. I tried to let it go, but when they started glibly talking about time and distances in the outer solar system like they were heading over to Walmart and while on the way maybe stopping of at the grocery store on the way.
I made it to chapter 5, 5 too many.
The narrator is marginal at best.if I had paid real money for this I’d be livid.
