The Bible + Neuroscience ♥️
Revisado: 05-02-24
I love neuroscience and the Bible. To learn from Dr. Phillips so much about how God intentionally created his world, including my body, to align, and be connected together, is nourishing to my soul.

Historia
Evangelical Christians are perhaps the most polarizing—and least understood—people living in America today. In his seminal new book, The Kingdom, the Power, and the Glory, journalist Tim Alberta, himself a practicing Christian and the son of an evangelical pastor, paints an expansive and profoundly troubling portrait of the American evangelical movement.

My angst is now justified
Revisado: 04-22-24
This informative read answered so many questions about why I could not continue to align with “evangelicals.” Every Evangelical should be willing to challenge their mindset and read this book with a desire to find Jesus in this political divisiveness.

Historia
Reverend John Mark Wright has everything he could ask for: a beautiful, loving wife, a small church that cherishes his spiritual leadership, and a humble, charming home in which to build memories. The path of ministry seems to contain no roadblocks for him...until the bishop presiding over Reverend Wright is replaced by a man who can't wait to see John Mark out of his position. A series of betrayals, lies, and manipulations lands John in a place he never expected to be, and calls into question every piece of his identity.

Beautiful read rich story of grace
Revisado: 09-23-23
I enjoyed listening to Irrevocable, narrated by the author, Joe Phillips. This was an interesting and easy book to listen to that conveys a message of hope after encountering church hurt and personal failures. The author does a great job of shifting between the different voices of characters in the book. Great read and very real topic.

Lily hasn’t always had it easy, but that’s never stopped her from working hard for the life she wants. She’s come a long way from the small town where she grew up—she graduated from college, moved to Boston, and started her own business. And when she feels a spark with a gorgeous neurosurgeon named Ryle Kincaid, everything in Lily’s life seems too good to be true.

Important topic
Revisado: 01-16-23
While shining a light on the topic is important, I found the storyline a bit juvenile and predictable.

Historia
Stephanie Grisham rose from being a junior press wrangler on the Trump campaign in 2016 to assuming top positions in the administration as White House press secretary and communications director, while at the same time acting as First Lady Melania Trump’s communications director and eventually chief of staff. Few members of the Trump inner circle served longer or were as close to the first family as Stephanie Grisham, and few had her unique insight into the turbulent four years of the administration, especially the personalities behind the headlines.

Thoughtful and insightful
Revisado: 10-26-21
I appreciated the context behind stories we only saw from a distance. Having the details outlined in this book validated the concerns I had as a conservative about this President and his ability to be fair, reasonable and simply a good person. Thanks for being strong, taking ownership of what in hindsight you might have done differently and staying as long as you did.
