Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Exceeded my expectations
Revisado: 04-06-18
What a story! Well told, insightful writing that allows the reader to experience the events alongside Trevor Noah. Noah does a great job narrating and has a knack for the various voices and inflections of his family members and friends.
Would definitely recommend.

Historia
Six days ago, astronaut Mark Watney became one of the first people to walk on Mars. Now, he's sure he'll be the first person to die there. After a dust storm nearly kills him and forces his crew to evacuate while thinking him dead, Mark finds himself stranded and completely alone with no way to even signal Earth that he's alive - and even if he could get word out, his supplies would be gone long before a rescue could arrive. Chances are, though, he won't have time to starve to death. The damaged machinery, unforgiving environment, or plainold "human error" are much more likely to kill him first.

Great story - loved the narrator

Good story that I was prepared not to like but ended up really enjoying and even laughing out loud at times. I think just about anyone would like this book regardless of what type of story they usually go for.

I just don't get it.
Revisado: 02-09-14
I kept waiting to have a eureka moment while reading this book - wondering if, like when I read Lord of the Flies in high school, I had missed an underlying message.
After much book club discussion, I've decided I didn't miss anything - the book was just a miss for me - I still am not sure what I was meant to get out of it.

Historia
Here is the story of two families, branches of the Solomons, transported to an alien land. Both branches eventually grow rich and powerful. But through three generations, the families never, for one moment, relinquish their hatred for each other. This novel is also the story of Australia, from its beginnings to its coming of age as a nation.

Enjoyed the characters coming together in book 3.
Revisado: 02-09-14
I didn't expect to like these three books as much as I did - I really enjoyed them and the sense of justice and social values that were woven through the characters. Courtenay is creative in how he brings the characters together and I found myself wondering "how would anyone dream up that story!?".
The only reason I gave the story 4/5 is that in all three books the endings are always rather brutal and sudden. I haven't read others of Courtenay's books so perhaps that his style. I found that I was fully immersed in the story and the it was almost like the author got tired or didn't know what to do next and so just ended the book.
Overall enjoyable and I recommend all three in the Australian Trilogy.

Unreal

This story blew my mind - I had to keep reminding myself that it was non-fiction and that someone went thought this. I found myself whole-heartedly rooting for the main character throughout the book. Absolutely could not put it down. A must "read"!!

Terrible writing, repetitive and juvenile.
Revisado: 08-26-12
Was hoping for a fun summer read but this was not it!
The three books were poorly written and though I kept hoping for some semblance of an adequate story line to emerge the plot was weak, the characters repetitive and shallow, the writing juvenile and the repetition hard to take. Even the gratuitous scenes (which is what I'm assuming made these books popular) were repetitive and I was fast forwarding through them by book three!
