In Like A Lion, Out Like A Dead Horse
Revisado: 01-16-06
I am highly disappointed with this book. It starts out with some promise lasting for around 12 minutes. After that you begin to realize that there are 3 big problems. First, the language is stilted, impersonal, and professorial. Concepts are expressed in abstract language that obscures the ideas presented. The second problem is that while the book provides a lot of theory, it provides little practical application. We are told repeatedly of the value of networking as a skill, but there is no help to be found on the subject of how to create such a network. The final problem is that the reader makes the book sound like a perky sales pitch. Most of her sentences seem to end in exclamation points. I think her reading would appear as bolded text if it were represented visually. My overall response to the book is annoyance and then boredom. If you want help with your networking or people skills, try another book. This one is not worth your dime or your time.

Dated And Disciplined
Revisado: 07-31-05
I am disappointed with this title. From its publication date, I expected it to be somewhat out of date. However, it ended up being a combination of ideas on filing things and a repetition of the phrase "do it now." This book assumes that the reader uses Windows 95 and has absolutely no technical background. The majority of the book is taken up by explaining how to organize files, both paper and electronic. The narrator is good, but the sound quality is poor and sounds like he's in a tin can.

Worth Its Weight In Gold
Revisado: 07-31-05
I'm usually skeptical of books like this. Passion? Heh! <rolls eyes> I bought it because I like this author's other titles. To my surprise, this book is better than I could have hoped for. There isn't a formula to follow. It's a fun, light-hearted, and real approach. It didn't feel like doing self-help work. It feels more like a heart to heart talk with a good friend. The talk isn't about changing me to be someone I'm not. It's a celebration of who I am and a window opening to show me so many places I could go. I am impressed with this audio book, and I'm going to send it as a gift to several friends for their birthdays.

More Than Candy Coating
Revisado: 07-02-05
On my first listen, I heard the author's speaking style and wrote her off as a silly person. I was very wrong. I decided to listen to it again a few weeks later, mostly because I was tired and thought I might doze while reading. I didn't get a nap though because I actually started thinking about what she was saying and not how she was saying it. Before long I was intrigued and began to look for ideas I could use at a meeting the next day. I decided to try the ideas as if I was playing a little game, and that helped me to overcome some of my shyness with people who I perceived as smarter and more polished than me. With the ideas I found, I was able to talk to a woman who had previously ignored my suggestions and got the attention of a man who introduced me to a friend of his who could help me get my project off the ground. This book is sort of like an M&M candy: you miss the good stuff if all you taste is the candy coating on the outside.

Believe it or not, by the time we graduate from high school, we've spent an average of over 14,500 hours in the classroom. But in all that time, how many teachers even attempted to teach us the meaning of life? Most schools neglect the most important class of all - Life 101. Fortunately, this best seller by John Roger and Peter McWilliams addresses all the real questions - and important answers - that we never discussed in class.

Land Of Conclusions
Revisado: 06-15-05
I am disappointed in both the quality and content of this book. It sounds like something from an old-time radio broadcast, and there is no reason that modern content should sound like that. It's a book, not a broadcast or radio appearance. In addition, the authors seem to ramble a lot and never seem to reach their final goal or even make it clear that there is a point to the book. If this is a bestseller as the publisher claims, the print version must have something that this audio presentation lacks. I listened to the book twice to see if I was missing some small fact that would make it all make sense. I believe this book is a waste of your account credits. :(

The Real Deal
Revisado: 06-15-05
I give the book a rating of 5 stars because it is practical, upbeat, and has ideas you can put into action the day you listen to it. I'm a single mom, and I feel sort of left out of most books where a two-parent home is the focus. This author accepts the family arrangement as is and gives ideas for any parents to try. Some of the advice is just common sense, but it's packaged in a new and creative way. It also helps with coping with my aging and disabled mother who is usually in a bad mood. I got her to smile this morning. :D If you're a busy mom/adult daughter with people to care for, you can't go wrong with listening to this book, even if you have to do it while washing dishes or in the car on the way to work.

Practical and Useful
Revisado: 06-13-05
This program is one of the few business titles that I have found to be both useful and insightful. It gave me help and ideas I could use right away while helping me understand why my attempts to get my co-workers to work together were failing. Within a week, my workplace became a place I wanted to be instead of tense, competitive and chaotic. It also helped me get my teenaged daughter to help around the house! This program is worth buying and applying.
