Fender Lizards is a surprisingly sweet story about a girl coming to terms with her life, and making decisions about moving forward. And there's roller derby! Kasey Lansdale did a wonderful job with the narration.

Wow. Just wow.

I don't know why I put off listening to this one for so long (or reading it or seeing the movie...), but I just finished it and it was fantastic. Will Wheaton's voice acting talent has grown tremendously and this book was a good fit for him. The story was the sort of optimistic thing I didn't even know I needed to hear right now, and I'm so glad I finally got around to listening to it.

Yikes... and not in a good way

I can't help but compare this to the movie, and it does not fare well. It's not just that it's dated, but the character of Ellen Brody is awful in the book - I'm only halfway through and I just can't stand her. I'm impressed by the narrator, though - he does a great job with the material he has. I'll stick with the movie in the future.

One of my favorites!

I had seen Ian Carmichael play the part of Lord Peter Wimsey in the BBC series, and I was not disappointed in his reading of Strong Poison. I even prefer it to the dramatized version. I only wish that his readings of the next two in the Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane series - Have His Carcase and Gaudy Night - were available on Audible!

Useful advice on public speaking

An excellent primer on public speaking. It's geared mostly towards the sort of speaking done at technical events, but the information should be useful for anyone who needs to do any kind of public speaking. The audiobook was a good way to breeze through the book, though the tones used to indicate new chapters kept me looking at my phone, trying to figure out what that sound was. It's a good listen, and the authors did a good job (as one might expect when the book is about public speaking). I'm looking forward to putting some of these tips into practice!

I've listened to a couple of other books narrated by Wil Wheaton, but I think he's really come into his own with this one. His reading is spot-on, the story is engaging, and everything just seems to have come together perfectly. Bravo!

An excellent reading of a longtime favorite.

I have loved the Prydain Chronicles for many years, but it had been ages since I had last re-read them. James Langton reads "The Book of Three" beautifully, bringing it very much to life. One small complaint is that there are some technical hiccups in the recording - there are a couple of quite noticeable skips. Overall, though, it was a pleasure to hear this performance.

An unexpected treat!

I wasn't all that interested in this book, to be honest, but when I saw that it was narrated by Wil Wheaton, I gave the sample a shot and decided to go ahead and get it. I was pleasantly surprised; it was a fun story and Wil Wheaton's narration was even better than I expected. Highly recommended.

I love this book. It's a fun story with loads of references to the things I loved when I was young. Add Wil Wheaton's spot-on reading, and it's just about perfect.
