Not Good Historical Fiction
Revisado: 05-04-25
I will try to put into words what I don’t like about this book. Probably the most glaring problem is during Biblical times he uses modern colloquialisms. Everybody sounds like Jerry B Jenkins. You don’t feel like you’re immersed in history. The narration is also a problem. I can’t stand hearing a man do a girl’s voice unless he’s really good. There was also a lot of telling instead of showing.

Inspiring Love Story
Revisado: 07-31-24
I loved the way the character changed and the storyline was easy to follow, but I disliked the amount of physical affection. It was too modern for the time period.

A Lot of Cursing
Revisado: 06-18-24
I wanted to enjoy this book, but there was too much bad language. A reviewer said that there was not a lot of bad language. To use phrasing from this author, "You must be out of your mind!"

This was my first book by Sian Ann Bessey. It was very enjoyable! She is good at building suspense. You can tell she is a seasoned author. Also, I love books with a heroine that inspires me. I can't wait to read what else she has written!

Historia
Written at the request of Charles Dickens, North and South is a book about rebellion that poses fundamental questions about the nature of social authority and obedience. Gaskell expertly blends individual feeling with social concern and her heroine, Margaret Hale, is one of the most original creations of Victorian literature. When Margaret Hale's father leaves the Church in a crisis of conscience she is forced to leave her comfortable home in the tranquil countryside of Hampshire....

Childish Story

I could not finish this. I recently read Pride and Prejudice, Mansfield Park, Emma and Sense and Sensibility. This book pales in comparison. The heroine needs a bit more hero in her.
