Historia
Ulysses S. Grant's life has typically been misunderstood. All too often he is caricatured as a chronic loser and an inept businessman or as the triumphant but brutal Union general of the Civil War. But these stereotypes don't come close to capturing him, as Chernow reveals in his masterful biography, the first to provide a complete understanding of the general and president whose fortunes rose and fell with dizzying speed and frequency.

Grant’s strength of character shines
Revisado: 04-16-25
Too much detail for me regarding Grant’s presidency. Sometimes the reading became tedious, however it may not be so to other readers.

Okay summer beach read
Revisado: 08-01-15
Not believable characters. It is not one of Baldacci's best. Decent summer beach read or audio book.

Excellent listen! Kept me on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. SO much to learn about security issues! I will never feel safe again.

I listened to this book after seeing the movie, which I thoroughly enjoyed. And I have to admit that I actually liked the movie better that the book! Still, I can't get enough of Bridget Jones, so this was very entertaining and worth the listen.

Revisado: 02-08-04
I was impressed by the high rating and great reviews this book has received... and I could not have been more thrilled after listening myself. This is an extremely well-researched, intelligent story--certainly one of the most enjoyable pieces of historical fiction I've ever heard.

Now his choices could save—or destroy—the Empire.

I must admit...
Revisado: 02-03-04
...that I was looking forward to listening to this book-- with the excitement, mystery and anticipation of a great fantasy novel. Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed in all aspects. The parallels to Lord of the Rings are almost comical, where the characters share similar plights and the plot weaves in and out of familiarity. This is an all too typical story of good v. evil, human v. inhuman, with no defining characteristics. Albeit semi-entertaining at times, I couldn't relate to any of the characters, thought the storyline was drab, and was confused by such an abrupt ending.
