Narrator was even worse than the story. I should have asked for a refund immediately.

Historia
In the middle of the night, in a house on a quiet street in suburban Minneapolis, intruders silently murder Luke Ellis' parents and load him into a black SUV. The operation takes less than two minutes. Luke will wake up at The Institute, in a room that looks just like his own, except there's no window. And outside his door are other doors, behind which are other kids with special talents - telekinesis and telepathy - who got to this place the same way Luke did: Kalisha, Nick, George, Iris, and 10-year-old Avery Dixon.

Everything is Brilliant.
Revisado: 02-27-25
This was my favorite Stephen King book…and I have LOVED so many SK novels over decades.
The narrator is magnificent. Typically SK clever, humorous, suspenseful, entertaining and intelligent.
Adored the characters. I enjoyed this novel more than anything I’ve listened to/read in twenty years.
BTW, why on earth are people on about DT? Stephen King is too intelligent to waste time on him.

Historia
DS Lucas Walker is on leave in his hometown, Caloodie, looking after his dying grandmother. When two young German backpackers vanish from the area on their way to a ranch, he finds himself unofficially on the case. But why all the interest from the Federal Police, when they have probably just ditched the heat and dust of the outback for the coast? As the number of days the couple are missing climbs, DS Walker is joined by the girl's sister. A detective herself from Berlin, she is desperate to find her before it's too late.

Fabulous Story.
Revisado: 12-06-24
Loved the narrator. He is brilliant. I researched other books he’s narrated and intend on sampling them.
The author is also truly brilliant. I only stopped listening when I had to. I downloaded the other two books in this series. Just starting my second one based on the beautiful Gold Coast of Australia.
DS Walker was extremely likable and the bad blokes were terrifying.

Excellent Writing and Narration.
Revisado: 10-06-24
I was very surprised this book was written in 2008. It is so germane to this country today. For that reason it was frightening in many ways to listen to.
I didn’t realize that some states vote for their Supreme Court justices as opposed to appointing them.

On a warm spring evening, guests gather in a perfectly manicured garden to celebrate Maggie and Len’s twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. Maggie leans against the apple tree, watching her fun-loving husband and darling children as her heart swells with pride. As the joyful party atmosphere disappears into the night, close by, the lifeless body of a young woman is pulled from a river. Historia
Jackie and Pete King have lived in Dunmore for years, running one of the two local pubs in the sleepy little town. Money has been tight after the bushfires, and it’s about to get tighter if they can’t find a way to pay their suppliers to keep their business going and keep the bank from foreclosing on their property. So when Jackie receives a mysterious phone call offering them $100,000 to let someone bury a body on their land, the answer isn’t as simple as they thought it would be.

Can’t get enough of these authors
Revisado: 10-10-23
I’ve listened to three short stories by these authors in a couple of days. They’re fantastic. I was actually scared in Still House and this one had me on the edge of my seat. Loved the characters and the story.
It’s all made even more fantastic by the narrator and the dry Australian sense of humor and beautiful accent and colloquialisms. I could see it as if I was watching a film and feel the emotions all the way through.
I can’t offer enough praise. Fantastic.
