But Chief Detective Inspector Roderick Alleyn knew that something was up. He had already planted his friend Lord Robert Gospell at the scene. But someone else got there first...

Pretty good
Revisado: 06-03-22
I'm rereading the Marsh books.Read them years ago and I'm still a bit mystified with Chief Inspector Allen' s persona. He doesn't seem to have much going for him so far.I thought Benedict Number batch was fine still hadn't quite gotten an American accent yet and why does Gmail Marsh hate Americans?

A far-from-warm welcome greets Hercule Poirot as he arrives for lunch at Lucy Angkatell's country house. A man lies dying by the swimming pool, his blood dripping into the water. His wife stands over him, holding a revolver. As Poirot investigates, he begins to realize that beneath the respectable surface lies a tangle of family secrets and everyone becomes a suspect.

Strange Agatha Christie book
Revisado: 02-17-18
This book wasn't the usual Agatha Christie book. It takes awhile for the mystery to begin and I'm not sure she knew what she wanted to do with it.It meanders and gives each person more than usual time to emote, to wallow in misery. So I don't know whether she couldn't cut it or wanted to prove she could do a serious mystery. But instead we got cliches ,and a muddle of a mystery. If you want a good Agatha Christie don't listen to this one and as always Hugh Frasier does an excellent job.I don't know where her brain was when she wrote this book. She wrote it during WW2 maybe that was the problem.

somethings a little off
Revisado: 06-27-16
Well you can't go to wrong reading Beyer but the musical interludes got to be annoying and the cut out some of her as funniest writing so maybe it's a B-.Arbitrage was pretty good but his older women's voice wasn't very good. The book is much better.

Historia
Soon after Gwenda moved into her new home, odd things started to happen. Despite her best efforts to modernize the house, she only succeeded in dredging up its past. Worse, she felt an irrational sense of terror every time she climbed the stairs. In fear, Gwenda turned to Miss Marple to exorcise her ghosts. Between them, they were to solve a “perfect” crime committed many years before.

Great read. One of the best voices I've heard.she has a different voice for each person, many try but this lady succeeded. Hugh Fraser would be proud of her because his are always as well done.
