For the Love
Revisado: 02-07-20
This is my first Jen Hatmaker book and I thoroughly enjoyed it and respect her authorship. Extremely talented writer telling her story and loving people and God in such an articulate way. Although I feel like I’m not in the same wavelength theologically speaking, this has been a good introduction for me to understand her theology more. You will grow in your faith and laugh out loud. Often. I look forward to reading her other books.

Historia
In the predawn hours of March 4, 2002, just below the 10,000-foot peak of a mountain in eastern Afghanistan, a fierce battle raged. Outnumbered by Al Qaeda fighters, Air Force Combat Controller John Chapman and a handful of SEALs struggled to take the summit in a desperate bid to find a lost teammate. Chapman, leading the charge, was gravely wounded in the initial assault. Believing he was dead, his SEAL leader ordered a retreat. Chapman regained consciousness, alone with the enemy closing in on three sides, beginning the most difficult and exceptional fight of his life.

Recognizable Heroism
Revisado: 02-03-20
As his sister Lori summed it up, he (John Chapman) was always her hero, but now he can be everyone’s hero.
I can’t imagine the drive that compels people like John to push themselves to the absolute limits and to put themselves in harms way in such impossible situations. It nourishes my soul and compels me to be more selfless in my meek walk on this earth.
The story was a little difficult to follow sometimes in an audio format, but summed up pretty good in the epilogue.
I recommend this book to anyone wanting to feel the bravery come alive or are interested in understanding this type of military experience. In my opinion, any Medal of Honor recipient’s life should be known/ taught in school.
