I want expecting this from Angela Pepper

I have greatly enjoyed Ms peppers books in the past however, this series just did not cut it for me. The child that is the main character and her purple sparks and where they shoot from are just a little more than I can handle. no, actually they are a lot more than I can handle. I kept waiting, and waiting and waiting some more for the storyline to improve and the narrating to improve along with it and that did not happen before I could not take anymore. I was not able to finish the series nor was I able to even finish the first book. just before writing this review I read another one that stated there is a male narrator in the second book. I am so thankful I did not get to that twist. I do not feel that this first book was appropriate, I know I would have been upset by a male narrating anything like this. I'm sorry Ms. Pepper, I will continue to anticipate updates from the Wisteria crew.

second time around

this is my second time listening to this series and I'm pretty sure I love it more (if possible) than I did the first time! I do hope there are more books coming from this author!

not a complete disappointment

the first book was enjoyable though I had a hard time keeping track with who was speaking. the storyline became apparent and was enjoyable. then toward the end of the second book the author introduced a fairly graphic, totally unnecessary sex scene. the third book became boring and ridiculous quicky with Sam's continuous whining which in all honesty had been throughout the series. I didn't get very far through the third book so I can't comment on the ending which is unfortunate. Bottom line, I wish I hadn't wasted my time with the first two books (minus the sex scene).

wonderful writing and story

it is so refreshing to have a series in the supernatural realm that is focused on adults. the stories are not the same old, same old, different day stuff as some of the other books. I can't tell you enough how much I enjoy these books! that being said I don't understand the need for the graphic sex scenes. if I wanted that, I'd read the teenage versions instead, I just skip those parts and hope I am rejoining at the right moment.

Wonderful to have adult characters!

Funny, interesting, addictive. Good story line. I have enjoyed listening to Defiance come into her magic and her history.

Enjoyable performance although I am distracted by trying to determine whose voice hers reminds me of.

fast paced, takes you on the ride

the narration takes some getting use to but with the action starting and hardly letting up, there's no time to think too much about it. I love all of the characters drawn to Rylee And look forward to more being added. although the dread is building... nothing lasts forever. which of the following will be the first to go?

I am enjoying the story but it is hard to listen to. This would be a better audio book if the narrator just read the story instead of trying to provide a voice for each character. One of the 4 twenty-somethings in the hunter group sounds like a 10 year old girl and I'm pretty sure it's a guy. There are other irritants I won't mention so you won't be hyper focused on them like I am.

All in all, the story is good enough to ignore the reader, at. least so far...

A short story at a novel's price.

I loved the storyline but was disappointed that there could have been so much more of it and there isn't. Also, it took me a while to get use to this series being completely different than the Scarlet Barnard, Disrupted Magic and Boundary Magic trilogies. I found myself arguing with some of the vampire "facts" because they are so opposite of the above mentioned series and the whole shade saliva thing is just wrong. other than that, I truly did love the story as I have all books by Melissa F. Olson.
