Nia is definitely my favorite narrator! I’m getting any and everything she’s on! I loved this story. I wasn’t sure if I would like Jaiden but I ended up loving him…even felt pure empathy during certain parts. I appreciate the author shining light on mental health in black men!

So far this is my favorite one! I loved Leland! I’m happy Kim didn’t allow her son to stop her from finding true love. She gave Leland a hard time at first but the chase was worth it! I definitely laughed a lot while listening to this. Uncle is hilarious. And the mention of ZO...yasss! I can’t wait to listen to part 3!

"Once upon a time there was a Hazel eyed boy with dimples. I called him Khalil. The world called him a thug." -Starr
Bravo! This was a touchy subject but the author told it with so much emotion and HONESTY. It's a story that needed to be told. A story of injustice that so many are too familiar with; black kings and queens that had their life taken (for no reason) by individuals that were sworn to protect and serve. I laughed, got angry, and became emotional throughout this whole book. There were so many things that resonate with me in this book. My favorite character was Seven. He was a lot stronger than he thought. He was so protective of Starr. I was happy Starr found the courage to speak out and express how she felt about Khalil's death. I can't wait for the movie.
