Great rap up to great story
Revisado: 07-21-24
Love the series and a good ending to the story. Wish it could be longer but like how it ended. Characters were well developed and story often switched between those views.

Historia
From the Audie-nominated narrator of The Martian. In eleven years' time, a million members of an alien race will arrive at Earth. Years before they enter orbit, their approach will be announced by the flare of a thousand flames in the sky, their ships' huge engines burning hard to slow them from the vast speeds needed to cross interstellar space. These foreboding lights will shine in our night sky like new stars, getting ever brighter until they outshine even the sun, casting ominous shadows and banishing the night until they suddenly blink out.

Great story- hoping the series is as well
Revisado: 03-18-19
I purchased this on a whim because of the narrator. Love R.C. Bray, but with the story I am pleasantly surprised. The story progresses believably and has held me from the first chapter. I have already purchased the next two in the saga because I want to hear the entire series.
Give it a chance, I think you will like it!

James S.A. Corey delivers compelling SF that ranks with the best in the field. Uncovering a terrifying secret, Jim bears the weight of impending catastrophe. At the same time, a detective has been hired by well-heeled parents to find a missing girl, and the investigator’s search leads him right to the Scopuli.

Its OKAY??
Revisado: 12-14-15
Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?
I read the book mainly because the show set to premier on SyFy and I wanted to read it ahead of time. First of all, I don't like any of the characters. Holden is too self righteous for my liking. The detective is a little crazy which I can deal with, but I still did not like him. I think more backstory on the missing girl would have been more interesting.
If you’ve listened to books by James S. A. Corey before, how does this one compare?
This is my first by this combined team of authors.
Which scene was your favorite?
Can't remember any particular one.
Did Leviathan Wakes inspire you to do anything?
Yes, it inspired me to wait until next season to read book two.

The Cowboy, Indian and the Dog are in Philly!
Revisado: 01-10-14
Would you consider the audio edition of Kindness Goes Unpunished to be better than the print version?
I have not read the print version therefore I cannot answer this question.
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
With the different subplots and the addition of meeting Vic's family, I found the story hard to put down. It provided background on her character and how Walt interacts with them. Also, we have more background on his relationship with his daughter Katie.
What does George Guidall bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The careful interchange between the characters. He brings them to life with his inflections and how they interact with each other.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?
Its hard to go unnoticed when you are in a powder blue vintage convertible with a Cowboy, Indian, Brunette and a dog inside.
Any additional comments?
I started reading these after watching and loving the Longmire series on television. As we always say, the books are much better.

Excellent Story Telling
Revisado: 03-05-13
Would you listen to Judas Unchained again? Why?
Yes, it is quite long, but I feel that was necessary to build up characters, background on the aliens, and work through each scene. I know many have complained of the length of the saga, but I find that the most enjoyable. The worlds and characters are so well developed that I don't mind that its long. (Game of Thrones fan here.)
Who was your favorite character and why?
My favorite by all accounts has to be Paula Miyo(sp?) and Melanie. He explores their weaknesses and through both books takes us though their character development. This sci-fi has a detective story, love story and many triangles going on at the same time, besides the action that is occuring. I also enjoy the Ozzie character with all his quirky-ness.
Which scene was your favorite?
Since I am still working on the second book - I can't give that detail yet.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There have been several moments that kept my mind racing even when I put the earbuds down. It makes you want to go back and listen more just to see what happens next.
Any additional comments?
Highly recommended. I have noticed its taking me time to get through both books, so the audible points keep adding up! I will be listening to more Peter Hamilton - he's a good storyteller.

Historia
Ensign Andrew Dahl has just been assigned to the Universal Union Capital Ship Intrepid, flagship of the Universal Union since the year 2456. Life couldn’t be better…until Andrew begins to pick up on the facts that (1) every Away Mission involves some kind of lethal confrontation with alien forces; (2) the ship’s captain, its chief science officer, and the handsome Lieutenant Kerensky always survive these confrontations; and (3) at least one low-ranked crew member is, sadly, always killed.

Positively Hilarious
Revisado: 07-13-12
What did you love best about Redshirts?
This story makes me want to go back at rewatch all the past Star Trek episodes. The wit is hilarious and the plot totally crazy. The whole premise of the book will keep you in stitches as the story develops. Also, it highlights just how bad televised entertainment truely is.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Doll was my favorite although I enjoyed Duvall's character just as much. Both their wit and comebacks to the different situations that they encounter.
Which scene was your favorite?
When Fitz dies and his last words are "this is ridiculous." Gotta love it.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?
To go back to where no man has gone before..

Original- may prove to be one of my favories!!
Revisado: 07-09-12
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
This novel had a little of everything for me. Mystery, sci-fi, gumshoe detective and a good plot. Even if you are not a sci-fi fan, I believe you would still enjoy this story.
What did you like best about this story?
I loved the main character who is the police detective who is killed in the beginning of the novel and is reborn as a "Reeb" which is now the most hated minority in NYC known in the future at Necropolis. The story revolves around these "reborn" people who come back after death and age in the opposite direction by youthing out of existance. Very original premise with a large congolomerate run by the female villian who is behind the entire process.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
Highly recommended. Mr. Dempsey paints a excellent picture of the future in 50 years from now along with many references to current day which helps make the story more believable. It will keep you on the edge of your seat waiting to see what happens next.
