An excellent coming-of-age story of sorts

This is a great coming-of-age story of sorts. The character development is great! The characters are multifaceted so I found myself liking the protagonist (Annie) one minute then scolding her the next, so you're easily immersed into the story. I like how the story explored certain themes such as mental illness in a way that is not heavy. The story line was very well-rounded and balanced - there's romance, comedy, friendship, grief... I'm really looking forward to the next books in the series. The narration was excellent. Well done Lucy Emerson!

sticky sweet and very hot

Good idea for a story, but very sloppy

The story doesn’t seem like it was thought through thoroughly. The timeline and ages don’t add up. Olive fell pregnant at 18 and she was described to be somewhat poor. Now she’s a single parent but there’s no mention of her having a job yet she moves from place to place and is not experiencing any financial difficulty. The story was written by two people yet it is so sloppy.
The narration was okay for Olive’s character but it sounded very rigid and monosyllabic for the male characters.

Four years ago, my buddy's dying words to me were to watch out for his little sister. I did what he asked from afar, and when she graduated and got a job teaching kindergarten, I asked her to "housesit" for me since I'm hardly ever home when I'm working on the oil rig. But now I'm injured and have to recuperate at home, and my extra-curvy housesitter is anything but safe from me. She's the homebody type. She'll make some man an excellent wife someday, be a good mother. She likes taking care of people. It would be wrong AF to take her the way I want to, but it would feel so right.

Cute Quick Listen

This is the first book for me by this author. It was a cute (and super hot) sweet book. It's a really short listen so I missed finding out how the male protagonist became the "bad boy" he is and just general character development. It was an enjoyable listen however, so if you are looking for a laid back quick story, I would recommend.
