Audiobook Narration Distracts from Excellent Story

I am enjoying these books immensely. I like the stories and the relationships between the characters in the ensemble cast. i appreciate the addition of the audio book. I am a longtime audiobook afficianado. However, There are two elements of the audiobook narrator's performance that seriously need improvement.

1) Ainsley/Ava's character is an intelligent, independent, compassionate young woman who is wise beyond her years and is thriving in her new community. The voice used to portray this character makes her sound positively ditzy, like a "dumb blonde." Having read several ebooks in this Gooseberry Bay series prior to switching to audiobooks, I don't like this potrayal of Ainsley's character. It's hard to take her seriously as a private investigator with such a voice.

2) When the audio reader speaks narrative phrases, such as, "i said," or "he suggested," the delivery sounds disjointed and mechanical -- very distracting.

i don't make these negative comments lightly. I adore Kathie Daley as a writer and am very much enjoying this book series. i would simply like to see these changes made in order to enhance the audiobook readers' enjoyment of their listening experience.

Lisa See skilfully transports the reader to a time and a place and a culture of strong women in the distant past. It is a story of two girls who were closer than sisters who loved each other unconditionally. A single confidence not shared creates misunderstanding and leads to many years of sacrifice, heartbreak, and alienation. My favorite quote from this story is, "To know everything is to forgive." May it be so.

It took me a bit to be drawn into the story. but I'm glad I persevered. Not only is the story centered around the very important social and moral issue of child sexual mutilation, Elizabeth lays out the plot step by agonizing step toward a surprising conclusion. Lynley and Havers and their team work their way through with no small amount of fumbling. I enjoyed the addition of Winston to the cohort.

Some people may see Debbie Macomber 's books as simplistic. I love them because they do deal with real-life situations. I love them because love always wins in the end. I'm not just talking about romantic love. I am also talking about love that includes the outcast and the seemingly unlovable. whoever the "other" might be. I do believe that only through this kind of love can the world experience any measure of peace.

And I love a happy ending. In this world there are far too many unhappy endings. Debbie , I encourage you to keep spreading the love! ❤️

Love, love, love this book! Michelle Obama may be one of the most important voices of her generation. She is thoughtful and articulate accompanied by a sense of humor. And she is not afraid to laugh at herself.

She does not claim to have all the answers. Instead, she offers practical tools from her own life experience and from those whose lives and opinions she values. She teaches us to shine the light that is in each of us while she shines hers to show us the way.

i can relate to so much of what Bishop Curry says because of what is happening in my own denomination. I pray that we can also find a way of love in which to walk our journey.

Naomi gives a marvelous and courageous presentaion of the mental illnesses suffered by so many in our society, including myself. It breaks my heart that six years later she still took her own life, adding her generation to those of her ancestors who did the same.

That doesn't negate the recommendations that she makes to others. it's just incredibly sad.
