I so enjoyed this book being read by Whoopi herself. I love autobiographies that include the author in narrating the book. The author is able to give some context or convey their emotions in the words they are reading. This is the first book I’ve listened to or read about Whoopi Goldberg’s life and I appreciated the honesty of the obstacles she encountered in life and the attitude her mother inspired. This family, led by Whoopi’s mother, was a lifestyle of honesty, acknowledging the challenges in life, recognizing the consequences of our choices but empowering oneself to make decisions about how we can amend our behavior or make more thoughtful decisions in the future to hopefully result in a different and better outcome. This book describes many examples of how Whoopi adjusted to what life brought her way. She listened to and learned from those around her and she was self reflective vs accusatory. Whoopi worked to lead with love, laughter, and a supportive intention. I know we would all benefit from our closest family members and friends who are loving and challenge us in a way that encourages growth. Anything else can limit our growth, our self confidence and our ability to achieve more of what we want vs trying to exist in a way where those who judge us can be satisfied. I would highly recommend this easy listen. I found it perfect to entertain myself while washing dishes and wrapping presents, etc. Enjoy!

These ladies talk about several books I’ve considered reading and I was glad to learn that at least one book wasn’t worth it for me and they introduced me to other books that might be worth a read. Overall a great overview and they saved me money & time.

Loved this short Audible

Wow. At times I would tear up and get emotional and he left me laughing. This was incredibly interesting. I highly recommend it!

Loved the Movie & Book

Dances With Wolves is one of my favorite films and I chose to listen to this audible version as my German Shepherd dog and I would go on our walks and I’d often pick up trash as we would walk. This Audible book is an enjoyable listen and you’ll discover the film follows the book very closely and almost completely.

Wow. Engaging and Fascinating

I absolutely love this book. I was initially interested in learning more about Prince. But was pleasantly surprised to discover that Mayte’s own life was so much more relatable and interesting than I expected. I too have lived in Germany and have spent quite a bit of time in the areas she lived. I loved listening to Mayte’s voice. She is captivating, speaks clearly, perfectly expresses the feelings she celebrated or struggled with. I couldn’t recommend this book more. I only hope I can find another Audible book that entertains and informs me so well. Thank you Mayte for sharing your story.

Wonderful & Interesting perspective

I highly recommend this audio book. The child narrator is adorable to listen to and seeing the world from a five year old’s perspective is refreshing. Having chosen the book as it was my book club’s selection I didn’t know what it was about so the first hour was a bit difficult to listen to. But I quickly became engrossed in the book and listened to it every chance I had. It’s a wonderful reminder of how simply children view and understand the world and a reminder to be patient with children and appreciate their inquisitive nature.

Fascinating- a must listen

The performance of this short book is very well done. The author uses historical audio recordings throughout the book which adds to the overall performance. This is a must listen for anyone who has interest in the space race to the moon. Thank you for researching this story so that I may be better informed.

Riveting

I really enjoyed this book. It kept me engaged and interested the entire time. I appreciated the interviews that were included in the recording and learning about the history of the people that live in small villages in Alaska. There were several times where the descriptions of the Iñukuns had me wondering if this was their term for Big Foot. Fascinating story.
