Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Heartbreaking and Humor
Revisado: 11-01-22
McCurdy strikes a balance between the two in telling her story. It is powerful, poignant, and funny. I enjoyed every minute…even the minutes I was crying.

Historia
Berkeley, California, 1933. In a lab filled with curiosities - beakers, microscopes, Bunsen burners, and hundreds upon hundreds of books - sat an investigator who would go on to crack at least 2,000 cases in his 40-year career. Known as the "American Sherlock Holmes", Edward Oscar Heinrich was one of America's greatest - and first - forensic scientists, with an uncanny knack for finding clues, establishing evidence, and deducing answers with a skill that seemed almost supernatural.

Believe me, I tried," writes Wolff. And so from early childhood on, her father began his crusade to make his white daughter down.

Revisado: 03-09-18
I loved this book for it’s overall message. Support artists and stop judging. Amanda Palmer’s story is really interesting and absolutely inspires me to create. One criticism: the story was not sesquicentennial. She jumps around in periods of her life. I had a hard time (as a listener) understanding when the story being told fit into the timeline of the whole story.

Well, I didn’t want to read this book because I hoped all the craziness we heard about via the news was over blown. It was discouraging to hear from a “fly in the wall” that things were indeed worse than portrayed in the media. What a mess. The book was entertaining if not also discouraging.

Revisado: 02-07-18
Oh what a wonderful friend Anne Shirley has been all my life. I read the physical books when I was in elementary school and fell in love with the story. 30 or so years later I am delighted with the audible version. Rachel McAdams is an excellent narrator. The story (already charming) comes to beautiful life in audio form. Bravo! I’m excited to have my daughters read/listen.
