Historia
In the first volume in the Penguin History of the United States series, edited by Eric Foner, Alan Taylor challenges the traditional story of colonial history by examining the many cultures that helped make America, from the native inhabitants from millennia past through the decades of Western colonization and conquest and across the entire continent, all the way to the Pacific coast.

An in depth but quite enjoyable book!
Revisado: 08-22-24
I enjoyed the different sections, breaking down each area of colonization and the history of each. Note, the American Revolution is not covered in this book.

Nice overview of each monarch.. oliver cromwell is skipped over as he was not a royal monach, so if you want to learn the basics but are not a ull blooded historian, this is a great book!

Historia
We were fighting on the wrong side of a war we couldn't win. And that was the good news. The Ruhar hit us on Columbus Day. There we were, innocently drifting along the cosmos on our little blue marble, like the native Americans in 1492. Over the horizon come ships of a technologically advanced, aggressive culture, and BAM! There go the good old days, when humans only got killed by each other. So, Columbus Day. It fits. When the morning sky twinkled again, this time with Kristang starships jumping in to hammer the Ruhar, we thought we were saved.

It's fun and a little silly while all having an amazing background in science fiction. All I can say is get ready for Skippy. It's a wild series and you'll enjoy all of it.

Historia
The Somme: these words conjure the image of war rigidly fought by traditional means even when catastrophe clearly loomed. Relying on personal testimonies never before published, this study of those who survived the first day of battle (July 1, 1916) captures this epic conflagration from all angles. Follow the action as soldiers crawl across No Man’s Land in the face of German guns, struggle with the conditions in the trenches, and survey the scene from the air as the RFC tries to control the skies above the battlefield.

Amazing Book
Revisado: 10-14-21
I enjoyed the book both for education and it's immersive experience. The authors use of diary entries and down to earth narrative way really made the battle of the somme come to life in a unique way!

Historia
The First World War is one of history’s greatest tragedies. In this remarkable and intimate account, author G. J. Meyer draws on exhaustive research to bring to life the story of how the Great War reduced Europe’s mightiest empires to rubble, killed 20 million people, and cracked the foundations of the world we live in today. World War I is unique in the number of questions about it that remain unsettled. After more than 90 years, scholars remain divided on these questions, and it seems likely that they always will.

a great book on a different topic
Revisado: 07-30-21
Very good book, interesting insights within the book. I enjoyed how large scale events were covered. My only small issue was following when events happened. I would definitely recommend it to any WW1 history buff or want to be buff.

a great book
Revisado: 11-25-19
For those people that don't follow politics as closely as they could this book will certainly open your eyes. The author does a great job showing that both democrats and republicans need to work together. I'm glad the author has listed many of the more rash things trump has said and done. He lets the reader make their own conclusions.
