this is an incredible and enjoyable listen. yes the story remains with most gamelit tropes in the sense of an individual with over the top power who always achieves victory because of some convenient plot device or whatever. Yet that isn't the driving point in this adventure. Nate continues to resist the "hero's call" and aims to advance his own skills and desires. I'm constantly looking forward to how he will avoid revealing his strengths each time. the fact that his chosen goal is almost actively restrained by the system makes his progress, even the slightest, something very interesting and never feels like guarantee. Honestly his struggles to achieve his personal goals is as exciting as most boss fights I've watched. maybe there is even a lesson buried inside this story, something about not letting the world dictate your outcomes... or maybe I'm childish.

amazing execution

the idea of teenage supper gone dungeon core is obviously unique, but rather than an interesting idea executed poorly like so many others, this one actually pulled out off and I was not prepared for the book to end. like a good meal, it came to and ends far too soon and left me satiated but still wanting m more.

the main character is very relatable and his reasoning for becoming hated by players is logical without being offset complicated. I'd love to try this game but then again I'd love want full dive vr game. worth a read if you're into the idea of immersion VR.

I do not know why so many individuals are giving this producing such terrible reviews it was quite enjoyable, my only complaint is that in an attempt to replicate a monstrous voice I couldn't instant what was supposed to have been said at all. All the characters reacting to what was said doesn't even help. this story was wonderful and very enjoyable just as the first was.

the story was interesting and very enjoyable and having a protagonist not be some amazing murderous and unbeatable individual when they are from our modern society makes for a much more believable setting.

This book is filled with moments of heartache and will make you reflect on your own loved ones extensively. For some strange reason I kept getting dust in my eye and had to pause multiple times...but that's completely unrelated I'm certain.

very well put together it uses the trope of a weak or standard human who has supers around him. too short in my opinion and overall I don't know how the entire series will go but it earned enough interest for me to continue to book 2.
