Historia
When people think of the Holocaust, they think of Auschwitz, of Dachau; and when they think of justice for this terrible chapter in history, they think of Nuremberg. Not of Russia or the Ukraine, and certainly not a town called Kharkov. But in reality, the first war-crimes trial against the Nazis was in this idyllic, peaceful Ukrainian city, which is fitting, because it is also where the Holocaust actually began.

I pretty much have the same complaints as the other bad reviews. As someone whose degree is in history and is friends with a holocaust researcher, this is not at all how you go about “educating” the general public. If anything it does more harm than good!

They are called the Greatest Generation, but they were also ordinary men, responding to the call of duty. These are their unforgettable stories—first-person accounts from the last of the soldiers, sailors, airmen, and Marines who fought the most dreadful war in history, all collected by a veteran of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

Having gone to both book signings at the collings foundation museum and interacting with Andy in person and through social media i cant help being proud to be an American. What he has done for our greatest generation brings a tear to my eye every time i read both editions of the book. I only wish more Americans would read it to understand what makes this country great

Captured by the Japanese after the fall of Bataan, Lester I. Tenney was one of the very few who would survive the legendary Death March and three and a half years in Japanese prison camps. With an understanding of human nature, a sense of humor, sharp thinking, and fierce determination, Tenney endured the rest of the war as a slave laborer in Japanese prison camps. My Hitch in Hell is an inspiring survivor's epic about the triumph of human will despite unimaginable suffering. This edition features a new introduction and epilogue by the author.e by the author.

A would be heroes story tarnished by lies
Revisado: 03-17-24
When I first listened to the book I thought extremely highly of the author and their service in the Philippines and their time as a POW. However after listening to Thunder on Bataan which covers the authors unit I was saddened to learn of the lies and exaggerations the author included in his service. It is extremely telling that during the Obama era he was supposed to receive a presidential medal of freedom, however due to pushback from the dwindling number of Bataan veterans and their relatives due to the authors lies and even thieving from fellow Bataan vets I must say I am disappointed. I just wish I could ask Mr. Tenney why he felt the need to lie about his service and steal from his fellow survivors

Historia
Immediately after Japan's December 7, 1941, attack on Pearl Harbor, President Roosevelt sought to restore the honor of the United States with a dramatic act of vengeance: a retaliatory bombing raid on Tokyo itself. In those early days of World War II, America was ill-prepared for any sort of warfare. But FDR was not to be dissuaded, and at his bidding a squadron of scarcely trained army fliers, led by the famous daredevil Jimmy Doolittle, set forth on what everyone regarded as a suicide mission.

Historia
By the end of February 1944, thanks to hard-fought and costly American victories in the first and second naval battles of Guadalcanal, the battle of Empress Augusta Bay and the battle of Cape St George, the Japanese would no longer hold the materiel or skilled manpower advantage. From this point on, although the war was still a long way from being won, the American star was unquestionably on the ascendant, slowly, but surely, edging Japanese imperialism towards its sunset.

Honestly I have tried so hard to finish the book but it is just terrible. I agree with the other low reviews about the authors treatment of non 160th members and non SOF personnel.

Historia
In the early years of the Second World War, the elite force of German submariners known as the Ubootwaffe came perilously close to perfecting underwater battle tactics and successfully cutting Britain's transatlantic lifeline. To the Allies, these enemy sailors were embarking on a mission of unequivocal evil. Each member of the Ubootwaffe understood that he must take pride in being part of a unique brotherhood. He had to do so because he was setting out on a journey that would test his mental and physical endurance to the very limits, and which he had little chance of surviving.
