Historia
Why are some people and organizations more innovative, more influential, and more profitable than others? Why do some command greater loyalty from customers and employees alike? Even among the successful, why are so few able to repeat their successes over and over? People like Martin Luther King Jr., Steve Jobs, and the Wright Brothers might have little in common, but they all started with why.

This is one of those great read books. I read a lot of books and I am NOT one that reads a book then everyone in the company feels the effects. I'm a continuous improvement minded guy, I always try to pull something out of each book that allows me to improve upon myself or the companies overall performance. I read this book and found myself writing a "Why" statement for my company...which just happened to aid in some CAB (Customer Advisory Board) initiatives we were working on. This book did a great job getting you into the right mindset to look at "Why" you do what you do...get to the core purpose which creates a strong foundation...a foundation that everything stems from. I would highly recommends this book to anyone running their own company, branch, division, etc...

Historia
With the economy in free fall, the government crippled by indecision, the streets taken over by new political parties, and the fragile institutions of civilization crumbling, a young man finds himself homeless and alone on the outskirts of Washington, D.C., facing certain death unless he can master survival skills he never imagined needing. Fending off violent citizens in an urban landscape that is gradually sliding into looting and mayhem, the protagonist emerges as an ultimate force of justice in a lawless land.

Read Book-2 First
Revisado: 04-24-12
Any additional comments?
As someone mention in another review, someone goofed by releasing this book after Book-2....I read Book-2 first.
I thoroughly enjoyed Book-2 but found myself filling in a lot of missing information. This book filled in all that information and I enjoyed it too. This book was also filled with action and kept me interested throughout. I do like the narrator, he does have a bit of a John Wayne twist...but it grew on me, I liked it. I'd read more from this author...

Historia
A supervolcanic eruption in Yellowstone Park sends lava and mud flowing toward populated areas, and clouds of ash drifting across the country. The fallout destroys crops and livestock, clogs machinery, and makes cities uninhabitable. Those who survive find themselves caught in an apocalyptic catastrophe in which humanity has no choice but to rise from the ashes and recreate the world.

Great Title

The Title lured me into reading this book. I enjoyed the action when the volcano erupted and things started to happen, how much the ash covered, how far it effected, the impact on peoples lives, their transportation, and the overall disruption to the country and even beyond...now that was entertaining for me. Unfortunately, that is only a small fraction of the book. The rest of the book is about a cop and his life, ex-wife, kids, girlfriend, etc... boring.
The narrator was hard for me to follow, he typically used the same voice tones for characters, I didn't always know who he was until he'd note it. I read the entire book but it was hard for me at times not to abandon it. I would have enjoyed it more if it covered more about the havoc caused by the volcano...and different narrator.

Historia
In his giant New York Times best seller, America Alone: The End of the World as We Know It, Mark Steyn predicted collapse for the rest of the Western World. Now, he adds, America has caught up with Europe on the great rush to self-destruction. What will a world without American leadership look like? It won’t be pretty—not for you and not for your children. America’s decline won’t be gradual, like an aging Europe sipping espresso at a café until extinction. No, America’s decline will be a wrenching affair marked by violence and possibly secession.

I enjoyed this book and Mark Steyn narrating it. I like factual data and Mark does a great job supplying plenty of it. The information regarding the European governments and their ways of governing was insight for me as well as enlightening as to the direction our current administration is taking America. This was a good read and I would recommend it to any American who has concern about our country and freedom.

Starvation, violence, and death run rampant in the remains of our once-proud country. Federal troops, commissioned to protect the homeland, have turned their guns on the lawless population. Citizens find shelter in government safe zones while ruthless gangs enforce their will outside the camps. When the military transforms Washington's life-saving food bank into a gun collection center in order to disarm all but the soldiers themselves, riots ensue.

This book didn't have a lot of reviews and I was skeptical to purchase, I'm glad I did!! It started off a little different but got going relatively quick, the story line was creative and feasible…I particularly liked how the book portrayed the actions of the government and its response to the given situation, it’s par for their current trajectory. I love an action packed book and this book was filled with it, the main character is one crazy SOB…I loved it. I couldn't put this book down. It had one element towards the end that I’m not sure belonged…but the authors note at the end made it palatable. I do enjoy the books that reflect a crisis and the aftermath created by a controlling government. This book rates as one of my favorites…along side “Patriots” by James Wesley Rawles and “Atlas Shrugged” by Ayn Rand.

America faces a full-scale socioeconomic collapse in the near future. The stock market plummets, hyperinflation cripples commerce and the mounting crisis passes the tipping point. Practically overnight, the fragile chains of supply and high-technology infrastructure fall, and wholesale rioting and looting grip every major city.

This was both an enlightening/educational book as well as entertaining. As I am aware of the insurmountable debt our government has placed on the backs of the American people, this book brought to light the possibilities of a collapse in our society. A collapse that could very well become a reality once the tipping point is reached. This book will definitely leave you thinking in a whole new light. I thoroughly enjoyed the book and due to the action, I feel it would make an outstanding movie.
