Don't waste your time
Revisado: 11-27-20
This book was a total letdown, I can't believe how long I waited for it to come out on audio. I don't understand what happened, but like most sequels it fell flat, it is the old self-loathing self-deprecating awkward teen garbage that's been done over and over. AND for some reason, the author wanted to be politically correct and make it more ridiculous.

Nikolis’ parents are dead - murdered before his eyes. What’s worse, they were traitors to the crown. At least that’s what he hears the village folk saying moments before he is whisked away to the castle of Highkeep. There he finds himself before the aged King Alginor, a man brought to a boil by his very presence.

This book is horrible
Revisado: 09-10-20
Part 1 was excellent, it followed the adventure of an orphaned boy into an apprentice, just like the summary stated. Part 2 is a teenage love story that drags the story down like a boat anchor. You might think there would be sword fighting, there is very little. Avoid this garbage.

Mediocre at best
Revisado: 08-27-20
I made it to book 3, the 2 storylines was not what I expected. The author also gives a little narrative before and after each book, which I found annoying, and every other chapter he was switching from the husband to the family. I did not enjoy it

Historia
Stealing a shard of a dead god’s blood should have been enough adventure for a lifetime. For William Reis, it was just the beginning. William has a single goal in his life, to succeed where generations of others have failed, and gain admittance to the Smithing Guild of Palnor. Men and women from the Reach have tried for years, but all have failed. They have failed for a single reason, a commandment from the Church of Amder. No one from the Reach can ever gain entrance to the Guild. A decree that remains unknown all but the Masters of the Guild, and even they don't know why.

This book is 5 hours too long
Revisado: 08-22-20
I struggled with this book. The story line is a good one, however, the Author is to repetitive, he continuously repeats himself about the characters. The main character, Will, is written like he is a pre-teen, if he had been 14 in the story I might have liked him better. He was too self doubting, no confidence, and at times... a coward. I think the first half of this book the Author had him vomiting every meal he ate. The phrases, "knot in stomach" or "legs would not move" were used a lot.
Several times I had to stop listening, it was just getting too damn boring. If you are looking for a story that is long and over done, then this is the book for you.
The ending is anticlimactic. I was disappointed.

This is not a survival guide
Revisado: 07-19-20
This book is not stories about how people survived their near death experiences, it is the author explaining what happened and then giving his opinion on why some survived and others did not.
You can skip the first 3 chapters unless you want to hear a story of the author's Dad survival in WWll, or if you would like to hear definitions and an explanation of a plane landing on an air craft carrier.
I was expecting to hear stories about survival, what each person or persons did and how they lived through their ordeal. Instead you get to learn about the incident and then what author thinks they should have done. Because surviving is not about what is in your head it is about what is in your heart. This book summary is misleading and the narrator is not very exciting.

I listened to this book for almost 3 hours and still had no idea what this story was about. The narrator is monotoned and needs improvement. The story jumps around to much in the beginning and ,makes it hard to follow.

Historia
The Inn at Gloucester stands alone on the rocky shoreline. Its seclusion suits former Boston police detective Bill Robinson, novice owner and innkeeper. As long as the dozen residents pay their rent, Robinson doesn't ask any questions. Neither does Sheriff Clayton Spears, who lives on the second floor. Then Mitchell Cline arrives, with a deadly new way of doing business. His crew of local killers break laws, deal drugs, and bring violence to the doors of the Inn.

Horrible, did not finish
Revisado: 04-19-20
Did James Patterson loose a bet? I do not know what happened to this great author, his last 3 books were horrible. This book made no sense, the Inn keeper, who use to be a cop, is now the town's go to guy for law enforcement? It made no sense I could not even finish it. He hit on just about every side topic. His best friend/partner who suffers from PTSD, who, of course, served in the desert, his dedication to his dead wife, and then meets the beautiful, single, middle aged, confident woman.
I can not write, and I drive a truck so I have many novels from James Patterson, if you do not grab my attention within the first 2 hours, then I will stop listening.

This is not for me
Revisado: 04-19-20
The author seems to be confused. Is this book a comedy or an action/thriller. The summary indicates that is it going to be a mystery adventure but it falls short. It starts out in a serious tone but then it turns into the MC talking to his dog about hiking. Also the author repeats himself over and over, making the same statements during the same scenario. The narration is mediocre.

Not well written
Revisado: 04-09-20
I did not make it far into this series, I like this type of story, however, right from the beginning it started out pretty unrealistic. This should be more in the teen section if your going to try and write a mushy love story with and end of the world theme.
The author tries to hard to convey how in love the main couple is. I made it to the part where the couple is trying to walk side by side and hold hands while trying to be tactical. They are trying to get home to their 24 year old recovering daughter, yet they leave her alone to go back packing for 2 weeks. Don't waste your time on this series.

Historia
LAPD Lieutenant Milo Sturgis has solved a lot of murder cases. On many of them - the ones he calls "different" - he taps the brain of brilliant psychologist Dr. Alex Delaware. But neither Alex nor Milo are prepared for what they find on an early morning call to a deserted mansion in Bel Air. This one’s beyond different. This is predation, premeditation, and cruelty on a whole new level. Four people have been slaughtered and left displayed bizarrely and horrifically in a stretch limousine. Confounding the investigation, none of the victims seems to have any connection to any other.

Not as good
Revisado: 02-11-20
I am a huge Alex Delaware fan, and I waited for this book to come out, and I was disappointed. The story lagged, and there were many points that I found myself not paying attention. John Rubinstein did another great job bringing the characters to life, I just found the story line to be boring. This book did not flow like the others in the series.
Too many characters, and some had long and boring backgrounds that had nothing to do with the story, just a bunch of cannon fodder. Also the dialect when questioning people is getting repetitive, Milo will ask a question and just about everyone replies with the question asked.
Maybe this novel was rushed.
