Narrator is annoying

These books are light and fun. However, the narrator’s squeaky voice is just downright annoying. I don’t know if I can listen to her through 15 books.

I enjoyed the subject and plot of this book. It treated vampires and werewolves as interesting people rather than relying extensively on excruciating details about their transformations and gory feeding habits. I love stories about witches, but normally do not like to read about vampires and werewolves. The story carried them rather than vice versa. That said, however, the narration was stiff and over precise. The vampires all sounded like they were from Transylvania and several times words were incorrectly placed ie: the arm and hand remains were interchanged once as well as Rachel and Martha's names. And the pronunciation of "werewolf" was almost enough to make me stop listening. Fortunately. the story carried me through. However, I may not read more unless they change the narrator.

Narration could have been better.

This story was different than many mysteries I've read- maybe because I don't read many about art. The story line was good, however I figured out the murderer halfway through the book- no surprises here! The narrator created the voices of the characters well. And although she is the only narrator I've found who pronounced forte correctly, her very precise diction was quite off-putting. eg; going to the store instead of going t' the store. This made it sound as if english was her second or third language instead of her first.

The plot was pretty good, although a horrific topic. There was only one scene that was hard to bear. I knew the end was going to be unresolved, so that didn't bother me and I will listen to the follow-up books if they are offered on sale. However, I really did not like the narration. It was almost computer-like, having a very static modulation. Every word had almost the same inflection including unimportant prepositions such as "for" and especially "to." Very little emotion in the voice. I would not buy a book with her narration again unless on sale.

A great read for x-file devotees. My only criticism is that Scully's voice was uncharacteristically whiney by some readers.

Interesting premise, good humor but sex scenes too long and unnecessary. Why do authors think they have to muck up a story with this stuff?

A great find

I loved this book and hope for many more in the series. While some reviewers complained that the references to the vegan cooking were too numerous, I enjoyed them and would love to know if the recipes are accurate. As an avid herb gardener, I also loved all the references to teas and concoctions and wonder about their accuracy as well. I did notice the minor repetitiveness that other reviewers mentioned- repeated references to facts already clearly established and unnecessary a second or third time. This seemed to be an editor's failing, though, not the author's. As an "older" reader, I find that books these days have more and more editing issues.
The reader was great. Just the right amount of inflection, rich tone and good differences between characters.
I think the author has given herself many options for more in the series. She can go forward in the main characters life OR return to a time previous in the her
300 year history.
I'm looking forward to many more in the series.

Great story, confusing timeline

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

If I hadn't been recommended this book, I might not have continued after the first few chapters. The story doesn't grab you till later on. There's a lot of historical war talk at first, but it's worth plugging on.

I keep thinking there can be no more to tell, but even though the main characters have no peace in their relationship, they keep going like the energizer bunny- more lives than you can imagine!
