Historia
In his palace at Inuyama, Lord Iida Sadamu, warlord of the Tohan clan, surveys his famous nightingale floor. Its surface sings at the tread of every human foot, and no assassin can cross it. But 16-year-old Otori Takeo, his family murdered by Iida's warriors, has the magical skills of the Tribe - preternatural hearing, invisibility, a second self - that enable him to enter the lair of the Tohan. He has love in his heart and death at his fingertips....

Exciting Japanese teenage drama
Revisado: 08-27-19
Family clans on the brink of war - who can you trust? The story is told in past tense from the perspective of two teenagers, a boy (1st person) and a girl (3rd person). The special gifts of 'the tribe' makes it a fantasy novel, but it does not go over the top. The story is charming and exciting, but can be both a bit rushed and a bit predictable. This is not the detailed and clever writing of George R R Martin, but it's still a coherent story that works, though I feel it takes some lazy shortcuts sometimes when I want a more detailed and true-nature-like story. This is how I feel it is intended for teenagers - more simple and short, action oriented.

Historia
Animal Farm - the history of a revolution that went wrong - is George Orwell's brilliant satire on the corrupting influence of power. Mr Jones of Manor Farm is so lazy and drunken that one day he forgets to feed his livestock. The ensuing rebellion under the leadership of the pigs Napoleon and Snowball leads to the animals taking over the farm. Vowing to eliminate the terrible inequities of the farmyard, the renamed Animal Farm is organised to benefit all who walk on four legs. But as time passes, the ideals of the rebellion are corrupted, then forgotten. And something new and unexpected emerges....

Different voice actors, music, sound effects and everything. A story to resemble the move from communist revolution to one-person-rule tyranny and propaganda. Effective story telling. Clever.

Great ending of great series
Revisado: 03-17-18
I wish either Martin Freeman or Stephen Fry would do the whole series, but this is still well read!
The story continuous to be funny, sweet and thought-provoking. Confusing end... Wish there were more...

Historia
It’s easy to get disheartened when your planet has been blown up, the woman you love has vanished due to a misunderstanding about space/time, the spaceship you are on crashes on a remote and Bob-fearing planet, and all you have to fall back on are a few simple sandwich-making skills. However, instead of being disheartened, Arthur Dent makes the terrible mistake of starting to enjoy life a bit–and immediately all hell breaks loose.

Both good stand-alone and part of the series
Revisado: 01-25-18
This time Adams focus on the concept of parallel universes. It could quickly be very strange and confusing, but he manages it in an entertaining and thought provoking way. Many funny bits. Didn't quite get the ending, but guess I'll hear it again.

Historia
Back on Earth with nothing more to show for his long, strange trip through time and space than a ratty towel and a plastic shopping bag, Arthur Dent is ready to believe that the past eight years were all just a figment of his stressed-out imagination. But a gift-wrapped fishbowl with a cryptic inscription, the mysterious disappearance of Earth’s dolphins, and the discovery of his battered copy of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy all conspire to give Arthur the sneaking suspicion that something otherworldly is indeed going on.

Best of the series so far
Revisado: 12-13-17
I don't know why, but this book gripped me more than the previous ones. Funny, since it is the one with the least obscure and amazing space travels. Instead it is a combination of a love story grounded on earth and a mystery we kind of know much about if we've read the previous books but still is captivating. Lovely!

Funny food for thought
Revisado: 10-27-17
Even though it is a highly functional and obscure story, the book manages to make many critical and enjoyable comments to both everyday life and the most fundamental questions of our existence. The imagination and creativity is very enjoyable, but also a bit too random at times.

A father publicly beheaded in the blistering heat of a Saudi Arabian public square. A notorious Syrian biotech expert found eyeless in a Damascus junkyard. Can't put it away!
Revisado: 08-04-17
Extraordinary how such a long and complex book can be so constantly gripping that you can't let it go. I finished it within a week!
There are many details that surprisingly fit together, yet it is not hard to follow.
Yes, there are some minor flaws, but it doesn't matter. And yes, the main plot, especially towards the end, is a bit predictable, but only the frame - there are many real surprises and exciting shocks.
The narrator also does a good job with different voices and accents. Not amazing, but very good.
In sum: Very exciting and enjoyable audiobook!

Very enjoyable even though you've seen the film
Revisado: 07-24-17
Usually, reading a book after seeing the film is an improvement. This was the case here too, but not so much. Stephen Fry is narrating amazingly well, and is an enjoyment in itself. But when I listen to the story, I can't help but see the movie. And it is not much difference. So most of the time I felt I had heard it before. It is still brilliant though, but it can be a bit too much of ranting random funny alien words sometimes.

Best book of the series so far!
Revisado: 07-20-17
Exciting, funny, shocking and terribly sad. None of the books were so good for so much of the time as the other for so far. Still the narrator is great, but unfortunately he is becoming inconsequent with his pronunciation and voices - names and words tend to be pronounced differently from book to book and chapter to chapter. Annoying and confusing. But still great.

Saga continuous even better!
Revisado: 05-06-17
The narrator is as great as in the previous book, and the story has improved. After a splendid but somewhat boring introduction to the united kingdom of Westeros in the first book, which we then see starting to crack, we now face a true clash of kings. The story improves from this. There are stronger tensions, more twists and turns, more families joining the games of alliances and deceit. Each character further develops its unique characteristics. This was a joy from start to end!
