Historia
Sixteen-year-old trans boy Benji is on the run from the cult that raised him—the fundamentalist sect that unleashed Armageddon and decimated the world’s population. Desperately, he searches for a place where the cult can’t get their hands on him, or more importantly, on the bioweapon they infected him with. But when cornered by monsters born from the destruction, Benji is rescued by a group of teens from the local Acheson LGBTQ+ Center, affectionately known as the ALC. The ALC’s leader, Nick, is gorgeous, autistic, and a deadly shot, and he knows Benji’s darkest secret.

Was recommended this by a librarian friend and I’m absolutely obsessed. This takes the transmasculine experience and puts it into terms of body horror that resonate greatly with me- and the “evil angels” concept is so well done here too! Very much scratches an itch tor me, 10/10

Historia
Remy Pendergast is many things: the only son of the Duke of Valenbonne (though his father might wish otherwise), an elite bounty hunter of rogue vampires, and an outcast among his fellow Reapers. His mother was the subject of gossip even before she eloped with a vampire, giving rise to the rumors that Remy is half-vampire himself. Though the kingdom of Aluria barely tolerates him, Remy’s father has been shaping him into a weapon to fight for the kingdom at any cost.

Look, I’m asexual and generally not sold on spicy content, but HOLY HELL WHAT A BOOK. The setting, the characters, the interpersonal conflict, the action, the political intrigue— ALL OF IT IS DELICIOUS!
I was recommended this book by a Burmese-American friend who was overjoyed to find representation of Asian vampires. As a Serb, I’m very protective of vampire literature and I wish it always to be done right— as vampire legends initially spread in Europe as a way to demonize my people— and this book is the best vampire novel I’ve read out of all of them. So often these days I see vampires used to showcase white supremacist attitudes, so this book was like a breath of fresh air in an otherwise musty Confederate library.
Not to mention that the NSFW is done VERY well- a lot of pining, frustration, and then a lot of leaving it to the reader’s imagination. I’m usually hesitant with potential “unicorn hunter” scenarios but once again this author pulls it all off FLAWLESSLY and adequately addresses all squicks I came into the book harboring.
I will be practically eating the next book of theirs I get to, thank you for the bloodmeal 🧛🏻

Historia
Worn out after decades of packing steel and raising hell, Viv, the orc barbarian, cashes out of the warrior’s life with one final score. A forgotten legend, a fabled artifact, and an unreasonable amount of hope lead her to the streets of Thune, where she plans to open the first coffee shop the city has ever seen. However, her dreams of a fresh start filling mugs instead of swinging swords are hardly a sure bet. Old frenemies and Thune’s shady underbelly may just upset her plans. To finally build something that will last, Viv will need some new partners, and a different kind of resolve.

I loved so many things about this book- the author’s excellent characterization, the imagery invoked, the pacing, the wonderful representation, and the surprises along the way. I’m very glad someone told me it’s gay, it was just enough incentive for me to read a truly lovely book.

Historia
One of Billboard's 100 Greatest Music Books of All Time: The provocative transgender advocate and lead singer of the punk rock band Against Me! provides a searing account of her search for identity and her true self. It began in a bedroom in Naples, Florida, when a misbehaving punk teenager named Tom Gabel, armed with nothing but an acoustic guitar and a headful of anarchist politics, landed on a riff. Gabel formed Against Me! and rocketed the band from its scrappy beginnings-banging on a drum kit made of pickle buckets-to a major-label powerhouse.

This book was incredible, even reading it as a trans person myself. Her dysphoria hit me hard, her addiction, her victories & failures- this book is wild from start to finish, and a big fat middle finger to every cisgender middle class punk that thinks theoretical politics is more important than survival.
