It was great getting this refresher on how to “ put me” first. Life has a way of changing us- to put others first; wife, kids, employee, etc.
This is a book on getting back to the basics! A must read if you need to be reminded how awesome you are, as an army of 1! Feeling better & back to myself.

Historia
Perfect Mexican daughters do not go away to college. And they do not move out of their parents' house after high school graduation. Perfect Mexican daughters never abandon their family. But Julia is not your perfect Mexican daughter. That was Olga's role. Then a tragic accident on the busiest street in Chicago leaves Olga dead and Julia left behind to reassemble the shattered pieces of her family. And no one seems to acknowledge that Julia is broken, too. Instead, her mother seems to channel her grief into pointing out every possible way Julia has failed.

Good read. Relatable & funny!
Revisado: 03-30-25
Just finished this book! I’m a first generation Latina & I feel so connected to this book, the author & characters.
This book was eerily similar to my childhood & relationship with my mom.
I laughed, cried and had several reflections of my childhood from the lens of the author.
I miss my mom so much. Reading this book brought back my inner child & took me back in time with my mom and the wild Mexican rituals she had.
For a short period I re-lived my childhood & fond memories and frustration in a bi-cultural home.
Good read. Fun. Reflective & tear jerker.

Historia
Surviving Sibling Loss: The Invisible Thread That Connects Us Through Life and Death is the gold standard of grief books, helping not only people who are grieving but also their therapists, partners, and friends better support their loved ones. The chapters are deliberately short and full of easy-to-find resources, and the book can be listened to again and again. This structure aids those who are struggling, who fatigue and lose focus easily under the weight of their grief.

Love this quick & easy read. Great job in sharing both personal & professional perspectives on the loss of a sibling.
✔️- all the topics & chapters were just what I needed.
Fresh from the loss of my brother ( 40 days) this book was perfect in helping me “ feel” his loss.
✔️- Helped me navigate my questions on death, missed memories & what now?
✔️- I also enjoyed the tips on what to say & what not to say to someone.
I feel closer to my brother after his death and this book made that ok, removed the weirdness to that.
Time well spent! 🙌
