Historia
When Rosie and Penn and their four boys welcome the newest member of their family, no one is surprised it's another baby boy. At least their large, loving, chaotic family knows what to expect. But Claude is not like his brothers. One day he puts on a dress and refuses to take it off. He wants to bring a purse to kindergarten. He wants hair long enough to sit on. When he grows up, Claude says, he wants to be a girl.

Wonderful, moving family secret keeping
Revisado: 05-02-19
As this very active, verbose family of 5 boys grows up, they find a secret too difficult to keep. I love how the author delves into ethical, practical, moral economical considerations the loving, intelligent, philosophic parents must make at every juncture in raising their family. It moves very quickly with witty conversations and discussions which the narrator reads with some humorous detachment, but which is very convincing and endearing. I loved the whole idea and the lessons learned by everyone.

Life in a Small Coastal NE town
Revisado: 06-27-13
What did you love best about The Good House?
The character development, seasonal descriptions and intertwining of lives in a beautiful, scenic, small New England fishing village. Lots of technical insights into the jobs, history, family ties of a close knit, maybe too close town.

No actual information included on the diet
Revisado: 05-18-13
What would have made The 4 Day Diet better?
Having concrete guidelines for foods to eat instead of just broadly describing 8 different levels of 4 day diets and 8 chapters of why to diet, then never actually giving a diet or any food recommendations
What was most disappointing about Ian K. Smith’s story?
No specifics, just generic behavior modification ideas. He says the exact food is so important but never actually names one food to have on any of his diet levels. I think the audio performance just ignored the entire premise of the book.
How could the performance have been better?
Actually read every part of the book instead of making random references to CD's, etc that are not included with the audio book. Did not get one iota of information from listening to this second book by Ian Smith despite 4 hours of listening. Very frustrating. Maybe this is just a scam
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Anger, ripoff feeling
Any additional comments?
Too bad as it seems he did alot of research but didn't bother to convey any useful information in this production. Worthless purchase and I want my money back.

Historia
On May 18, 1860, William H. Seward, Salmon P. Chase, Edward Bates, and Abraham Lincoln waited in their hometowns for the results from the Republican National Convention in Chicago. When Lincoln emerged as the victor, his rivals were dismayed and angry. Throughout the turbulent 1850s, each had energetically sought the presidency as the conflict over slavery was leading inexorably to secession and civil war.

Great historical accuracy and insight
Revisado: 09-11-12
What did you love best about The Kitchen House?
Loved the character development of all leading people, and the detailed descriptions and complicated emotional involvement. Suspenseful, riveting, left me wanting more of the story of the same families.
Who was your favorite character and why?
Belle, because she was very dignified, hardworking, smart, insightful, capable and strong.
What does Orlagh Cassidy and Bahni Turpin bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
Love this about audible books: that the diction and pace bring even more believability to the characters. Kept me riveted, and welcoming the relief of another perspective and cultural interpretation at every chapter.
Who was the most memorable character of The Kitchen House and why?
Mama, as she was so wise and contributing always to the peacefulness, character, wholesomeness, and love in her household.
Any additional comments?
Maybe I should have mentioned the male characters in the story also. There were no less than 5 and they were all very believable, tho some frustratingly evil, and others so self effacing. Guess I just identify with the female characters more, tho the development of the male principals was just as complete.
