Historia
You don’t have to gain weight as you age. That’s the simple yet revolutionary promise of The Whole Body Reset, which uncovers why standard diet and exercise advice stops working for us as we approach midlife—and reveals how simple changes to the way we eat can halt, and even reverse, age-related weight gain and muscle loss. The Whole Body Reset presents stunning new evidence about the power of “protein timing” for people at midlife.

Hard to listen to
Revisado: 08-14-24
Lots of "rah! rah!" and pep talk, especially in the first chapters. Some interesting ideas, and probably some usefulness therein, so the book wasn't a total bust, but the narration was so dreadful! I couldn't get past the guy's "rat-a-tat-tat sounding voice to finish listening. Better to borrow this book from your local library or try to buy it used, second hand.

Historia
Despite constant efforts to declutter your home, do papers still accumulate like snowdrifts and clothes pile up like a tangled mess of noodles?Japanese cleaning consultant Marie Kondo takes tidying to a whole new level, promising that if you properly simplify and organize your home once, you'll never have to do it again. Most methods advocate a room-by-room or little-by-little approach, which doom you to pick away at your piles of stuff forever.

Let's get to work!
Revisado: 07-19-23
I'm a pretty neat and tidy person, frequently cleaning out my closet and discarding things that have served their purpose in my time, but after listening to this book I was inspired and even amazed at what I found to throw out and donate (outdated textbooks, worn out tshirts). The process is not a time consuming and it's very gratifying.

This can drive you crazy
Revisado: 07-17-23
Oh what a chore to keep going! This is a great book, I suppose. That is, if you like language to be a nuanced dance: " (Speaker 1) " Do you mean XYZ?" (Speaker 2): Oh! Oh! Oh!".....makes me want to shake some of these characters by the shoulders and tell them to make themselves clear and get to the point. Not my favorite Henry James book.

Historia
This is Kazuo Ishiguro's profoundly compelling portrait of a butler named Stevens. Stevens, at the end of three decades of service at Darlington Hall, spending a day on a country drive, embarks as well on a journey through the past in an effort to reassure himself that he has served humanity by serving the "great gentleman," Lord Darlington. But lurking in his memory are doubts about the true nature of Lord Darlington's "greatness," and much graver doubts about the nature of his own life.

Revisado: 05-17-22
I’ve been trying to get through Lewis’s “Arrowsmith” and I stop and start. With this book, however, I heard it from beginning to end, unable to bury it behind my other Audible plan-to-listen-when-I-find-the-time titles. It’s that good! I’m going to buy myself a physical copy for my library.

Review the SCERTS Model for background
Revisado: 04-15-22
Highly Informative book, and I am glad that I found it. Dr. Prizant is very knowledgeable about this complex subject. What I had a problem with was the overuse of his stories: "X was a delightful ...." "Y was a lovable.....", "Z's teacher called me...". It is clear that Dr. Prizant worked extensively with young people but these stories became more of distraction, taking my attention away from the core messages. It was fascinating when he would describe the manifestations of the disorder and I found myself wishing he would continue - then pop! Another child's name with a story followed. Then another. And another. I fast-forwarded to the last chapter where he mentioned that his work is based on the SCERTS model. If I had known, I would have read about this Model before reading his book. Maybe it would have helped me appreciate all those stories.

Historia
The third volume of this gripping family saga, End of the Chapter, shifts to the Cherrells - cousins of the Forsytes by marriage. Young Dinny Cherrell in particular cherishes their ancestral home, Condaford Grange, which represents stability in a rapidly changing world. Through his depiction of the lives and loves of this family, Galsworthy throws a brilliant spotlight on the social and political upheavals of the 1930s.

Glad I heard it on Audible
Revisado: 01-28-22
I tried to read the novel and got bored, always wondering "What happened to the Forsyte characters like Irene, Jon and Anne, Holly and Val?" etc. There is very little mention of the old Forsyte crew and just a little bit more of Fleur and her husband. Thank goodness this was available on Audible. With that said, this turned out to be a pretty enjoyable trilogy, although not as memorable as the Forsyte Saga and A Modern Comedy.

Historia
Wharton's most erotic and lyrical novel, Summer explores a daring theme for 1917, a woman's awakening to her sexuality. Eighteen-year-old Charity Royall lives in the small town of North Dormer, ignorant of desire until the arrival of architect Lucius Harney. Like the succulent summer landscape in the Berkshires around them, Charity's romance is lush and picturesque, but its consequences are harsh and real.
