Oh, I absolutely loved this book from the get-go, which is pretty unusual. Usually, it takes some time to set up the story to get going, but this author did a lovely job of keeping my interest with each phase. I highly recommend this book. You’ll be taken on an adventure and left guessing at every turn.

I really enjoyed this book. Psychological thrillers are not my favorite genre, but I enjoyed the twists, and the way the story was told through both the mother-in-law and daughter-in-law points of view. Highly recommend this book.

Historia
When Jenny inherits her estranged grandmother’s cottage in Sherwood Forest, she has nothing to lose - no money, no job, no friends, no family to speak of, and zero self-respect. Things can only get better.... Her grumpy but decidedly handsome new neighbour, Mack, has a habit of bestowing unsolicited good deeds on her. And when Jenny is welcomed into a rather unusual book club, life seems to finally be getting more interesting. Instead of reading, the members pledge to complete individual challenges before Christmas.

This book was my in-between book club read. It was a sweet, fun, and easy listen, and for a bonus, there is a book club which was fun to listen to their involvement in the main character’s life and how they all evolved.

Historia
When Sandra Leigh was seven years old, she fell into the role of protector of her mother and three younger siblings. One winter night, she ushered her mother out of the house during one of her father’s tirades, and then snuck her back into the dark home through a window. Sandra was used to events like these; what she wasn’t used to were the mountains and nature surrounding her new home in West Virginia.

Amazing narration! I really enjoyed the book, although at times, I couldn’t believe how much hardship a family could endure. It made me so sad. But there is hope at the end. Not going to spoil the story. I love that the author wrote her story and shared her past, perspective, and personal life. It surely is not easy to do so. The book ends with hope and love. Life is hard, and the author does an amazing job finding the beauty despite hardship in her book.

Historia
Many Christian women are torn between how the church has taught traditional gender roles and the liberty they see secular society afford to women. But what if the church's conventional teachings on the place of women aren't really biblical at all? On Purpose is a serious study on the verses in the Bible that have often been interpreted to define the role of women in the church, at home, and in the workplace. Julie Coleman reveals how the timeless principles in the Bible actually teach freedom for women. In fact, when rightly understood, these verses are a wake-up call.

Wow! I have never read a Christian book so well written. I want to read it again and go through it with all the verses and make notes. It is an easy listen but so full of “meat” or material that I think I need to read it two more times just to let all the teaching sink in. it made me so want to delve into the Bible and study it with a new and more contextual approach. It is very Christ centered and at the same time very honestly written. The author shares her background and history of her experiences within the evangelical church. I highly recommend this book for anyone wrestling with questions concerning women and their roles as Christians.

Historia
Esme is born into a world of words. Motherless and irrepressibly curious, she spends her childhood in the Scriptorium, an Oxford garden shed in which her father and a team of dedicated lexicographers are collecting words for the very first Oxford English Dictionary. Young Esme’s place is beneath the sorting table, unseen and unheard. One day a slip of paper containing the word bondmaid flutters beneath the table. She rescues the slip and, learning that the word means “slave girl,” begins to collect other words discarded or neglected by the dictionary men.

I love this beautiful book! Historical fiction is my cup of tea, and I so enjoyed how this book was written from an entirely different perspective than any story I’ve ever read (or in this case listened to:). The narrator did a beautiful job in my opinion. I didn’t want the story to end.

The narrator did an amazing job narrating all the accents from Brooklyn, New Yorker, to Irish, to Texan, and Southerner in sentences sometimes back to back! The story or rather stories were riveting and moving. I did cry. I highly recommend this audio book.

History and intrigue
Revisado: 12-14-21
I really enjoyed this book! The plot kept you guessing and wanting to know more. Another reviewer said the many characters got confusing to keep straight with each decade which was helpful to know starting the book. I kept an extra mental note of each character and the story from each timeline made sense after a few chapters.
I love history, and it was fascinating to read from a different perspective about life during WW II as well as the different and similar pressures women face(d) in the three generations presented in this beautiful novel.

Historia
Everyone knows everyone in the tiny town of Bourne, but the Mitchell triplets are especially beloved. Mirabel is the smartest person anyone knows, and no one doubts it just because she can’t speak. Monday is the town’s purveyor of books now that the library’s closed - tell her the book you think you want, and she’ll pull the one you actually do from the microwave or her sock drawer. Mab’s job is hardest of all: get good grades, get into college, get out of Bourne.

1 2 3 Sisters
Revisado: 08-27-21
I love this book! This story is about three sisters (triplets) and their uniqueness and devotion to one another against all odds, differences, and setbacks. I would love to see this book made into a movie, but I hope it would be as superbly narrated as this story was by three different narrators. The twists and turns the story takes you and the development of the characters keeps you guessing, and the fun vocabulary thrown in was a plus (I learned some new vocabulary words in the process:). I look forward to discussing this book with my book club!
