Historia
The history of Egyptology is often told as yet one more grand narrative of powerful men striving to seize the day and the precious artifacts for their competing homelands. But that is only half of the story. During the Golden Age of Exploration, there were women working and exploring before Howard Carter discovered the tomb of King Tut. Before men even conceived of claiming the story for themselves, women were working in Egypt to lay the groundwork for all future exploration.

A fascinating book for anyone interested in women’s studies and/or Egyptology. Also if you are a fan of Elizabeth Peter’s Amelia Peabody books you will see the women and men you met in Ms Shepherd’s book woven through her stories. Excellent read!!

This series of books is fantastic! This particular book spoke to me deeply as my husband, myself, and our two daughters lived in Cairo at the time of Arab Spring.

Another great story. I love how even out of series Stevenson’s stories overlap just a little. This was the perfect bow on the gift of this series.
Love the narrator.

Historia
Elfrida Jane, accustomed to the energetic life of a small-part actress, finds life at Mountain Cross very different. Historia
Jilly Cooper has kept a diary about life on Putney Common. Noting the effects of the changing seasons and writing about her encounters with dogs and humans, Cooper creates an affectionate and enthralling portrait of her everyday life. Cooper writes lyrically about the natural world, tellingly about the sorrows and joys of caring for dogs and children and outrageously about the gossip, illicit romances and jealousies of small community life.

Historia
What if Mary Bennet’s life took a different path from that laid out for her in Pride and Prejudice? What if the frustrated intellectual of the Bennet family, the marginalized middle daughter, the plain girl who takes refuge in her books, eventually found the fulfillment enjoyed by her prettier, more confident sisters? This is the plot of The Other Bennet Sister, a debut novel with exactly the affection and authority to satisfy Austen fans.

Aisling, a goddess in human form, was born to rule both domains and - with her twin, Anya - unite the Celts with the powerful faeries of the Middle Kingdom. But within medieval Ireland, interests are divided, and far from its shores greater forces are mustering. Both England and Rome have a stake in driving magic from the Emerald Isle.
