From pole to pole and across decades of lived experience, National Book Award-winning author Barry Lopez delivers his most far-ranging, yet personal, work to date. Horizon moves indelibly, immersively, through the author’s travels to six regions of the world: from Western Oregon to the High Arctic; from the Galápagos to the Kenyan desert; from Botany Bay in Australia to finally, unforgettably, the ice shelves of Antarctica.

WonderFull❣️
Revisado: 06-07-19
Barry Lopez is the gold standard for essayists & travel authors. I think of him as a complete human being: full of wonder & awe, meticulous & precise, historical & progressive, factual & poetic, observant & contemplative, thoughtful & fallible...all in all he is deeply human and his writing is the most delicious blend of art, philosophy & science. Don’t know if there is such a thing, but there should be a category for soulful writers like BArry Lopez: the UNESCO World Heritage Writers or Chroniclers of the Earth & Humanity.
This book is a clarion call to care for the world, for humanity with an unabashed sense of wonder and warmth of heart. Don’t get cynical and stay engaged!

Sadhguru!
Revisado: 08-09-18
As always, Sadhguru is an inspiring mystic, one that communicates from direct experience rather than learned pomposities.

Thoroughly entertaining, delightful!
Revisado: 07-21-18
Wonderful, nay, magnificent narrator! This is a varied, complex, and thoughtful novel. The love of place and of human characters shines throughout the entire book. It explores the tapestry of what it means to be human: love, violence, joy, guilt, sacrifice, quirkiness, honor, greed, inspiration, etc

Historia
Paramhansa Yogananda’s classic Autobiography of a Yogi was more about the saints Yogananda met than about himself - in spite of the fact that Yogananda was much greater than many he described. Now, one of Yogananda’s few remaining direct disciples, Swami Kriyananda, author of award winning book The New Path, tells the untold story of this great spiritual master and world teacher.

Good book, needs a different narrator
Revisado: 06-02-18
It is great to have a complementary Yogananda biography, and there are some lovely nuggets of wisdom in it also. The drawback is the narration, it is great to hear the book from the voice of the author; however, his health impedes him from properly delivering it...in this case, probably better to have someone else read it.

Historia
Before the birth of the universe, there existed your Original Face, the limitless Self that has been present throughout the unfolding of inert matter into life - and that continues to dwell within us at every level of consciousness. Where is this grand evolution taking us, and how can each of us participate in it more fully? On Kosmic Consciousness, Ken Wilber invites you to find out. Since the first publication of his groundbreaking ideas at the age of 23, Ken Wilber has sought to bring together the world's far-ranging spiritual teachings, philosophies, and scientific truths into one coherent and all-embracing vision.

Great Map!!!
Revisado: 02-26-18
This is a thorough review of the model/map that Ken Wilber has rigorously and comprehensively created. As a practitioner and facilitator of breathwork, bodywork and Acupuncture, I find this map of human, scientific, cultural and spiritual development eye opening and practical.
Ken presented his work with great authenticity, a playful sense of humor and openness. In regards to the work being done by the Integral Institute, it is inspiring to see the AQAL model be put to the test of practical application.
I simply loved Kosmic Consciousness!

Historia
The study of Western Civilization traditionally follows a well-known but incomplete arc: the grand achievements of Greece and Rome, several hundred years of the Dark Ages, and then the bright emergence of the European Renaissance. But amid the "dark" Middle Ages, the Abbasid Empire, which ruled the Middle East as well as much of Northern Africa and Central Asia from 750 to 1258, serves as a vitally important but often overlooked bridge between the ancient and modern worlds.

Professor Gearon is eloquent, entertaining, passionate and I dare say a polymath himself. He inspires love for the subject. What a pleasure to have such gifted professors!
