So much of the politics, power and ego transcends time. Interesting to see how much similar we are to the people of those times.

Grateful for the sincerity
Revisado: 03-24-24
It is so useful and eye-opening when people that are considered at the top of the game are able to open up and share their personal, sometimes against all odds stories, creating and running businesses. Being a CEO can be absolutely the most anxious and lonely rollercoaster ride ever. And probably one of the most challenging endeavors someone can do, specially if you’re scaling something that will impact society in some meaningful way. Again- grateful for the perspectives and stories that can get us through the hard times, especially when that fucking critic that lives in her head keeps on trying to sabotage.

Great perspectives on the human psyche and the spectrum of humanity and its colorful challenges to traverse our fractured existence into a more cohesive integral human experience. Idealistic for sure as humans as a whole are still very much ego/fear driven.

Historia
Shetty grew up in a family where you could become one of three things—a doctor, a lawyer, or a failure. His family was convinced he had chosen option three: Instead of attending his college graduation ceremony, he headed to India to become a monk, to meditate every day for four to eight hours, and devote his life to helping others. After three years, one of his teachers told him that he would have more impact on the world if he left the monk’s path to share his experience and wisdom with others.

Revisado: 02-24-24
Lots of good insights that makes you think deeper remind me of things that I need to be reminded of to practice more often. I got to share with my 13 yo daughter, whom I lovingly call 🐒 monkey at sometimes we have to think like a monk not like a monkey. sometimes like a wolf 🐺, not a sheep 🐑 . Life lessons for a complex world.

Life lessons I wish I knew 30 years ago.
Revisado: 02-06-24
As I have learned the hard way, human nature is to compete, be jealous, do whatever it takes to win and look for strength- it’s built into our human nature- it’s the law of the jungle. That includes lying, cheating, deceiving, making up reasons why you need to fuck people over- which is usually led by an immature ego. I argue that there is a fine balance- you don’t have to go to the extremes. Being nice in a dog eat dog world, as a man, is not ideal. The question of - do want to be loved or feared and respected has a whole new meaning now. I used to think loved. But now I get that with a balanced approach showing strength, people will learn to respect the strength, perhaps fear - as most people are not strong,
Lead with strength, truth, compassion even- but when people cross you, try to take over- you need to fight. Be the 🐺 , not the 🐑

Historia
Almost every religion, spiritual practice, philosophy and person grapples with fear. The most repeated phrase in the Bible is “Be not afraid.” The ancient Greeks spoke of phobos, panic and terror. It is natural to feel fear, the Stoics believed, but it cannot rule you. Courage, then, is the ability to rise above fear, to do what’s right, to do what’s needed, to do what is true. And so it rests at the heart of the works of Marcus Aurelius, Aristotle, and CS Lewis, alongside temperance, justice, and wisdom.

Revisado: 01-28-24
He distills such a misunderstood concept, in a deeper, yet simpler way of understanding. He empowers people with new possibilities to redefine their weaknesses into new found strengths that anyone can use to better manage life’s journey, its up and downs- and ultimately in our call to step up and call on that part of us that sometimes is hidden deep within, the warrior, the courageous me.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.
