Historia
In the wake of the Kejari, everything Oraya once thought to be true has been destroyed. A prisoner in her own kingdom, grieving the only family she ever had, and reeling from a gutting betrayal, she no longer even knows the truth of her own blood. She’s left only with one certainty: she cannot trust anyone, least of all Raihn. The House of Night, too, is surrounded by enemies. Raihn’s own nobles are none too eager to accept a Turned king, especially one who was once a slave. And the House of Blood digs its claws into the kingdom, threatening to tear it apart from the inside.

Hard for me to listen to
Revisado: 04-27-25
The first book was lacking for me and almost didn’t do the second book but thought with a male narrator it would liven it up. It didn’t! I think the book would’ve been better with one narrator.
The male narration was very flat for me and made it very hard to listen to, all the chapters with the male narrator I wanted them to be over with. (Could be his voice or his narration style but wasn’t a fan. Sorry to say.) Anthony Palmini or Gabriel Michael would have done this book justice. (Hate to say it)
Either way this is my perspective and everyone is different. Read/listen to get your own take.

Overrated
Revisado: 04-27-25
I feel this book is overrated. It was a-little slow for me and lacking story line.
Didn’t captivate me like I hoped it would. When people ask for book recommendations, my mind never goes to this book it wasn’t memorable like others. (I almost forget I’ve read/listened to it)

Historia
My father sold me to the Shadow King. Faerie is a completely different world than the one I'm used to. Winged creatures fly in and out of mirrors, and fantastical gardens conceal treacherous illusions. Shadows draw me in a little more for each day my magic grows, but I can't afford to let my guard down. To survive, I must play by the king's rules and protect myself from the nightmares, dreams, and fantasies that govern his seductive realm. Most of all, I must resist him. If I don't, my kingdom will fall.

It was okay
Revisado: 04-27-25
I was very excited to listen to this book as it had Anthony Palmini and Lilly Drake, my favorites. I was disappointed that these two didn’t do duet narration. I think that killed the story for me.
My mind would drift at times and I had to go back and re-listen to some chapters. Half way through and I started to get engaged and intrigued. I really enjoy Lilly Drakes narration for Nel (the accent was on point).
Will continue with the second book due to the ending of this one.
Suggestion: Duet narration especially if you have male and female narrators, if not just have one narrator.

I'm a shadow huntress in dire need of revenge. When a Fae prince asks me to participate in the Yule pageant and spy on the Winter King, I rise to the occasion. He tells me I'm a ringer for the dead queen, and that I don't have to win the pageant or get married in the end. He forgot to mention I'd lose everything in the meantime—including my heart.

Fun read/listen
Revisado: 04-27-25
I wish the narration was duet, I get disappointed when I see male and female narrators that don’t Duet, and narrate like they did in this book.
I was more interested in this book than the first, it kept my mind in it. I wasn’t a fan of the ending so much but still a good read/listen.
Suggestion: if you’re going to have male and female narrators on a book, please do duet. If not just have one person narrate the book!

My favorite Series
Revisado: 04-27-25
I absolutely love this series and rave about it all the time. I feel this series is very underrated! This version of king Midas I just admire and so well written. The characters (the inner circle to be more specific) you connect with and absolutely love. Judd 💜 made me laugh so much and Slade 💜💜 🔥 tugged at my heart strings! (Lou, Ozric, Auren, Rissa OMG all of them just amazing) just love 💕
I did NOT want the story to end and I honestly cried! How it did end I felt it needed something more, but I almost feel it can continue. (I truly hope so 🙏)
If I could rate the Narration higher then 5 I would. Anthony Palmini is my absolute favorite narrator and knows how to bring each character to life so well. This was my first book series with Lilly Drake and WELL DONE…she is my absolute favorite female narrator by far. Any book that has Lilly or Anthony I will listen they are in my opinion the best at what they do….and together 🔥 🔥. (Suggestions to authors, put these two on every book 😊)
Thank you Raven Kennedy for this amazing book series!

When Saeris comes face-to-face with Death himself, she inadvertently reopens a gateway between realms and is transported to a land of ice and snow. Just loved it 😍! The storyline and characters were great, Kingfisher 🔥 and Carrion just makes me laugh.
Anthony Palmini, is so great at narrating and telling the story. First duet narration I’ve listened to and it didn’t disappoint.
Can’t wait for second book (Brimstone)! Well done to everyone part of this book, very happy reader/listener!
