The Koran: It may be the most controversial book in the world. Some see it as a paean to peace, others call it a violent mandate for worldwide Islamic supremacy. How can one book lead to such dramatically different conclusions?

Wake up the West
Revisado: 08-05-24
Once again Robert Spencer has given us invaluable insight into the Koran and the ultimate aim of Islam. We ignore this warning to our peril.
The book is well arranged, dealing with all the issues, such as Islam in relation to Christianity, Judaism, women, word domination etc, one by one in well developed chapters.
He exposes the western leaders who have systematically downplayed the threat to western civilization posed by Islam. The weakest part of the book is possibly his proposed solutions to the problem because presently there probably isn’t one, which I believe he admits.

In a bold and moving book that is sure to spark heated debate, the novelist and cultural critic James Carroll maps the profoundly troubling 2,000-year course of the Church’s battle against Judaism and faces the crisis of faith it has provoked in his own life as a Catholic. More than a chronicle of religion, this dark history is the central tragedy of Western civilization, its fault lines reaching deep into our culture.

A Masterpiece of Research
Revisado: 07-18-24
Firstly I’d like to discuss the issue of narration. Initially, I also found that the narration sounded computer generated an impossible to listen to. That was until I discovered that the default speed was 1.3 times normal speed. I have brought this to the attention of Audible and hopefully this has been corrected. The narration is perfectly acceptable at 1.0 speed.
This is one of the most impressive books that I have ever read or listen to. The honesty, the courage the pathos, the vulnerability, and the love of the author is monumental. The research that must have gone into this book is monumental. Although I can imagine that actually reading such a book maybe difficult, I’m delighted that it came out in an audible form so that we can benefit from it.
The suffering for almost 2000 years brought about by the vilification of Judaism and Jews by the Catholic Church knows no bounds. It sheds a clear light on the origins of the rampant antisemitism that we are experiencing in the world today, and if this scourge is to stop, this book needs to be studied and taken very seriously by both Jews and Christians alike.
I note that among the keywords relating to this book, Audible has included Judaism, history, religious intolerance and holocaust but his failed to site Catholicism as a keyword, which is strange as this is essentially what the entire book is about.
I recommend this book as a “must read” for everyone since the hatred in the world simply has to stop.

Robert Spencer, one of the world’s foremost critical scholars of Islam, has been labeled public enemy number one by those who apologize for Islam and its violent excesses. He has been called a propagandist, a racist, and an “Islamophobe” - a term that he willingly embraces in this provocative and important book.

The serious danger that we’re in
Revisado: 02-26-24
This is such an important book and needs to be read by everyone. If what Robert Spencer says is not true then it needs to be refuted with facts not with emotion.
Robert Spencer is a brave man and the Western world owes him a debt of gratitude. When will our leaders wake up ? For centuries Europe battled against Radical Islam and now they’re giving up without firing a single shot.

Renowned and beloved as a prizewinning novelist, Dara Horn has also been publishing penetrating essays since she was a teenager. Often asked by major publications to write on subjects related to Jewish culture - and increasingly in response to a recent wave of deadly anti-Semitic attacks - Horn was troubled to realize what all of these assignments had in common: She was being asked to write about dead Jews, never about living ones.

Sincere, terrifying, thought provoking book. An indictment on our world for thousands of years with no sign of changing in spite of modernity.
The style of writing and narration is different and I listened to the book twice to fully appreciate it but it was well worthwhile

The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich
Revisado: 07-27-22
What a monumental work this is !!
They say that history is never written by the underdog. Ultimately Germany was the underdog in spite of her initial rampant success in the beginning of the war. However, by virtue of the fact that the entire book is based on the German documents pertaining to their conduct of the war, it is in reality their own account of the war and one can really come away from reading it with a profound understanding of the “other side”.
It is beyond frightening that this could ever have happened and serves as a continual warning to humanity that for evil to succeed all it needs is for good people to do nothing to prevent it. This is one of the most powerful points made in this book.
I recommend this book to everyone. It is a huge commitment to get through it but well worth it.

How Winston Churchill Changed the world
Revisado: 06-18-22
What an utterly superb presentation of the life of Winston Churchill, one of the greatest if not the greatest man of the 20th century.
Michael Sheldon’s presentation is outstanding, so well researched, objective and in such beautiful English.
I feel the everyone needs to listen to this, the appreciate and learn from history as we continue to make the same mistakes today.
I cannot remember this work here highly enough.

Historia
In AD 66, nationalist and religious revolutionaries in Judaea led a ferocious revolt of the Jewish people against the authority of mighty Rome, culminating in the greatest upheaval and savagery the world had known up to that time. By the end of the conflict seven years later, over one million Jews had perished and tens of thousands were sold into slavery. Until the Holocaust, it remained the greatest tragedy ever endured by a people. How had this once prosperous region been laid low, and by what process did its fratricidal feuds take it down a slippery slope to utter annihilation? Fortunately for us, there was an eyewitness.

Josephus - The Jewish War
Revisado: 05-23-22
This is a monumental work. In spite of that fact that it is superbly narrated by Charlton Griffin it was difficult to listen to owing to the fact that it appears to be a direct translation of presumably the Greek version and so for an English speaker the syntax is all wrong and this really detracted from the enjoyment of the presentation. It a pity that it hasn’t been translated into modern English.
As a lover of history I learned a great deal from this although one must assume that Josephus is certainly bent on flattering his Roman masters. They would not have tolerated anything less.
I recommend this work to anyone wanting to come to grips with the history of ancient Israel and Rome vis-a-vis each other.

They expose the attempts by fundamentalist Muslims - both in the US and abroad - to destroy our legal system in favor of a system that would destroy our essential liberties. They bring attention to terrorism in today's world and reflect on the recent Paris and San Bernadino attacks as well as Russia, Syria, Iran, and continuous threats to our nation.

This book is a masterpiece of research into the dangers that civilization faces. It is superbly narrated by the author. The style of his narration reflects the urgency of the situation that he wishes to convey to his listeners.
This is essential reading/listening for everyone and particularly for Western political leaders who are hellbent in capitulating to the unholy alliance.

Jay Sekulow presents a political and historical rationale for the existence of Israel as a sovereign nation. Here is the audiobook that defends Israel's right to exist as a sovereign nation. As chief counsel for the American Center for Law and Justice, Sekulow has fought with Israel hand-in-hand in some of Israel's most strategic, international battles. Now, he has pulled together the definitive and comprehensive look at Israel - one of the world's most controversial nations - and its importance to us as Americans and as a key focal point to the future of the world.

Jerusalem by Jay Sekulow
Revisado: 02-23-22
This is a monumental work discussing the rights of the Jewish People to their own land and Israel’s right to exist in a hostile world but alas, as Balaam said in his prophecy “It is a nation that shall dwell alone”. That is just a painful fact.
It should be read by all - both those in favor and those opposing the Jewish State as well as those sitting on the fence, in order to have clear insight into all the issues.
The narration is very good but has to loose at least one star for the absolutely atrocious pronunciation of Hebrew names and terms. Surely Mr Jiry you could have taken the trouble to learn to pronounce these names and terms properly. That was the only disappointing part of an otherwise excellent performance.
