Historia
Her beauty almost certainly saved her from the rising Nazi party and led to marriage with an Austrian arms dealer. Underestimated in everything else, she overheard the Third Reich's plans while at her husband's side, understanding more than anyone would guess. She devised a plan to flee in disguise from their castle, and the whirlwind escape landed her in Hollywood. She became Hedy Lamarr, screen star.

Amazing story
Revisado: 05-17-24
Loved the audio presentation and accents. It was a very tame depiction of her life, enough to get conversation going with our book club. Misogyny cost lives and it is sad to understand the impact of that foolishness.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Revisado: 03-19-24
We all grow up with imperfect families but the level of abuse, illness, manipulation, mental illness was heartbreaking. As a mother of three adult children I was moved by this book and would like to say I’m in awe of this beautiful young woman’s journey to healing, keep moving forward Jennette. God uses the broken to bring healing to others.

Nostalgic and brilliant!
Revisado: 02-28-24
I was in elementary school when the Vietnam War began and in high school when it ended. I remember my neighbor, the kind handsome guy who had come to my rescue many times, leave for war. When he came home he was not the same. I remember my father, a WWII and Korean War veteran, going down every week to welcome the soldiers home from Vietnam. When asked why he said it was the right thing to do. The Women is an important book giving insight into this tumultuous period in our history, Masterfully written depicting the brokenness, injustice, hatred and prejudice of people and the disrespect of our veterans. I love that the book tells the stories of the women as they were forgotten. I also love the friendship of women of different color, social class and backgrounds. Read this book!! I cried and laughed and rejoiced. I wish I could give it 10 stars!

Every sad
Revisado: 11-07-23
Very insightful into the mind of an addict but very sad it took him so long and went through so much before he realized he was enough. Jesus is our true peace and freedom. Sad to think when he was finally ready to find love and have children but it will never happen. for him.

Historia
Allie Kirkland has never been one to take wild risks. But when she's offered a costuming assistant's job on a docudrama in the hills near Moses Lake, she jumps at the chance. She's always dreamed of following in her director-father's footsteps, and the reenactment of the legendary frontier settlement of Wildwood is a first step. The family expectations will have to wait. But in 1861, the real Wildwood held dangerous realities. Town founder Harland Delevan held helpless residents, including young Irish schoolteacher Bonnie Rose, in an iron grip.

Beautiful story of love, friendship, courage and hope. My favorite chapter was the last! The world can be cruel and our past can haunt us but when the freedom of redemption comes it’s beautiful.

With the exceptional storytelling skills that have helped make her name, Kidd tells her very personal story of the fear, anger, healing, and freedom she experienced on the path toward the wholeness that many women have lost in the church.

Listened but disagreed
Revisado: 03-01-23
As a Christian feminist I appreciate the struggle and heard the heart of the author. However the theology became intermixed with to much mysticism and I don’t agree with the theology. I love the authors work, just not this book.
