Historia
Everyone expected Violet Sorrengail to die during her first year at Basgiath War College-Violet included. But Threshing was only the first impossible test meant to weed out the weak-willed, the unworthy, and the unlucky. Now the real training begins, and Violet’s already wondering how she’ll get through. It’s not just that it’s grueling and maliciously brutal, or even that it’s designed to stretch the riders’ capacity for pain beyond endurance. It’s the new vice commandant, who’s made it his personal mission to teach Violet exactly how powerless she is–unless she betrays the man she loves.

Secrets die with the people who keep them!
Revisado: 02-02-25
The first half is classic Basgiath with all the classes and action you love, with a bit of complex longing with a side note of torture.
The second half is almost comfy cozy as this settle out until you reach the last 10 chapters where the climax begins.
I balled my eyes out for the last 2 hours straight. All the characters you hate and love in peril.
Whole book is super quotable.

Historia
With ailing family to support, Evie Sage's employment status isn't just important, it's vital. So when a mishap with Rennedawn's most infamous Villain results in a job offer—naturally, she says yes. No job is perfect, of course, but even less so when you develop a teeny crush on your terrifying, temperamental, and undeniably hot boss. Don't find evil so attractive, Evie. But just when she's getting used to severed heads suspended from the ceiling and the odd squish of an errant eyeball beneath her heel, Evie suspects this dungeon has a huge rat . . . and not just the literal kind.

Solid story, reader is meh

Solid story, reader is meh
The reader is fine, but she doesn’t do voices, so characters blend together and it can be hard to differentiate who is speaking. It would be better if there had been 2 readers for the 2 povs present. I just imagine the voices more similar to how Hannah Maehrer does in her videos and the reader doesn’t do an equivalent in my opinion.

Historia
Growing up poor in small-town California as the oldest of six siblings, I knew I would never ride off into the sunset with anyone. That was even more apparent when a senseless tragedy took the lives of my parents, forcing me to become the sole guardian of our dysfunctional household at the mere age of 23. Then a fateful encounter literally brought Prince Charming to my doorstep. At first I thought Viktor was just your average businessman passing through, albeit obscenely handsome, six-foot-five, blue-eyed, and mysteriously rich. But soon I discovered the truth behind Viktor's façade.

Cinderella retelling
Revisado: 11-04-24
It’s a cute twist on a Cinderella story. Nice prince meets small town American girl.
The story is well written and the spicy scenes are good. The only thing I can complain about is the descriptions of how Viktor looks, tall, tall, tall. It is repetitive. There is very little unique descriptions of the main characters. There is much more on the siblings of Maggie.
There is a theme of grief as several characters had recently lost family. The deaths are mentioned but not vividly described.
The readers did well, all the characters were easily distinguishable although Maggie sounded whiny/bratty in Viktors POV.

The story is good with some spice. 🌶️🌶️🌶️
It is a Little Mermaid retelling and an enemies to lovers romance plot.
I was not a fan of the woman reading, she was hard to understand in several chapters and her volume would get so quiet I could barely hear the audio.

Historia
A princess. A soldier. A servant. A demon hunter. A thief. When we last saw them, this unlikely group was heading into the Northern Territory of the kingdom of Pitoria, on the run from the sadistic and power-hungry King Aloysius of Brigant. The Smoke Thieves have discovered that demon smoke is not only an illegal drug used for pleasure, but in fact, when taken by children, demon smoke briefly gives its users super-human strength.

Still good, but has the same problems
Revisado: 02-19-24
This is a sequel to Demon Smoke. It rounds out the first story and explains something’s that were missing in the previous novel. It isn’t a standalone story and has some minor cliffhangers at the end, but no conclusion of any subplots or real end within this book. The characters are still good, but have little development outside of Catherine’s character.

Toby never meant to be a highway robber, but needs must. He didn’t plan to impersonate a top London valet either, but when the chance comes to present himself as the earl of Arvon’s new gentleman's gentleman, he grabs it. Unfortunately, the earl is the man he seduced and robbed on the road to get here. Oops.

Plot comes first

Nice short tale, pointed connections, good steamy scenes and not too many of them, plot comes first before sexual attraction, but otherwise classic smut.

Hero’s Journey
Revisado: 12-27-23
The setting is the most interesting part, this is very typical hero’s journey, which isn’t a complaint. Ceras becomes OP though, I dunno how that will play out in the next book. Characters are easy to hate and easy to love.

Had to put it down
Revisado: 09-08-23
When starting this story I was expecting a dystopian beauty and the beast, but what I got was dystopian 50 shades of grey. I was not expecting the mental toll it took to finish the book. The ending is very good. To see characters change and fight with their emotions, see everyone having 2 faces and the constant reminder of the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. The book is well written and the voice actors did a 10/10 job.
TL:DR Complex plot line and heavy emotional load, had to take a break in the middle before finishing the book. Will not read twice.
