The story is maturing nicely

I think these serialized novels tend to have very clearly defined story arcs. I enjoy the ability to jump into a pre-read section and to have it stand alone without the need to re-read it. Solid exposition and good pacing.

Historia
It’s not easy making the career jump from office-supplies-store middle manager to heroic interdimensional adventurer. At least, Jason tries to be heroic, but it's hard to be good when all your powers are evil. He’ll face off against cannibals, cultists, wizards, monsters...and that’s just on the first day. He’s going to need courage, he’s going to need wit, and he’s going to need some magic powers of his own. But first, he’s going to need pants.

I wasn’t expecting it to be this good
Revisado: 02-14-22
I’m a long time High Fantasy reader who is running out of material to read. I took a chance on this book even though it carried a cringe inducing description as LitRPG. I played D&D through my teens and twenties, so the concept of RPG books has always been a miss for me. I just hadn’t found one that I liked. I enjoyed the pacing, the battle descriptions, and the philosophical and the moral challenges the protagonist encounters.
I have even higher hopes for book two. I’m sure the author will continue to grow and improve as the books progress.
