Anotha one...Mary done it again. I thought she would follow up with the last read because I really wanted to know how Liona and Juble lives changed and if she ever went to find her brothers....
I like how Mary incorporates all her characters in her books. That slimy old reverend Spivey. His spiritual guidance was a front from him sleeping with the women in his congregation. This story had a bunch of lying, cheating, adultery, backstabbing, and death, whewwww. And I wonder if pig ears are Mrs. Monroe's favorite food because she's always talking about them in her books. Every woman is cooking them and the love them. Homer and reverend Spivey, is like many men, living double lives, but chastising others, as though they're aren't living in a glass house. I love how you visble see the scenes, the characters, and everything play out throughout her books. I hope her books turn into movies one day, I'll pay happily to see them all. Even if she turned them into a TV series

Mary Monroe sholl know how to write a book. Chileeeeeeeeeee, I always wondered how life's like being a twin, especially an identical one. Fiona and Leona did everything you can imagine and more. They did all the typical switching one would think of like in school, with boys, and work. But they took it too far, from jail time, pregnancy, and home life with Fiona's husband. The twins mother was strict on them, so they found the need to switch to accomplish the things they wanted. Especially since she was harder on Fiona than Leona...Mary had me hooked from start to finish. She highlighted life in that era, even noted being gay and living a double life/lie. Bonnie Sue, the twins best friend had a crush/infatuation with Leona even though she was married with 3 sons. She tried her best to run off any guy that liked Leona or showed interest in her. Even killed.... One night she decided to confess her love for Leona (not knowing the girls had switched and it was actually Fiona) and she told her to leave and that she'd pray for her. She told her that they could no longer be friends. This hit a switch in Bonnie Sue's mind, the next day she returned begging Leona (Fiona) to still be here friend and to hear her out. The big mistake was letting her in the house, because If Bonnie Sue couldn't have her no one could. Bonnie Sue confessed that she killed multiple people to stay out of her way and then stabbed Fiona 50 times. In the house and chased her down the street. When the cops came Fiona's head was barely hanging on and she was unrecognizable. Whewwww (brief flashback). Mary highlighted how secrets can damage, different relationships, love, lust, and watering your own grass because as many may know the grass isn't always greener on the other side. This was by far one of my favorite books by Mary Monroe. #Book6of2025 #Whatsnext #BookWorm #ToyasBookClub

Whewwww...Kiersten Modglin is writing her arse off. Now, this is how you write a series. The Atonement, book, #3,the last book in the series took me on all the frills as Book 1 and 2. Ainsley and Peter are truly crazy. Just when I thought one was crazier, the other one one up'd the other. I see why Ainsley didn't trust her mother, and the sad thing is I know some mothers just like her. She would want her daughter to put up with whatever to keep a man/image or to look/be alone. Pathetic. Peter really upset me when he manipulated his son, Dillion, to try to kill, just to get Ainsley and his family back. He didn't care how it would destroy his son. He just wanted to turn his son into a monster like him. Even when her grandson shot Matt, Adele still wanted Ainsley to go be with Peter and his deranged arse. Then it all ends, a new life, now Ainsley can finally be happy and breathe... #Book4of2025 #BookWorm #WhatsNext #ToyasBookClub #BuckleUp #GetComfyAndRead

Whatttt a wild ride... Now, this is how you do a sequel. As I mentioned in my review on the Arrangement, book 1 of the series, this reminds me of "You," the Netflix series.

Chileeeee Ainsley and Peter are back on their shenanigans. I thought the "Arrangement" was something, but the "Amendment" is topping it. During this book, we uncover how Peter got they way he was. This is why it's important to be mindful of the company/friends you keep. Ainsley and Peter's "secret" is out. There's blackmail, more lies, secrets, therapy, and an unlikely bonding over their killings. When they find out their daughter quit dance and the reason why. They blow a gasket and are determined to make the coach pay. Peter love grows when Ainsley kills, and Ainsley now understands how her husband feels and itches for that high too. On top of doing whatever is needed to stay in their marriage, they began couples therapy. Which takes on a turn in itself.... Jealousy rears it's ugly head and threatens the sanctity of their marriage and family. To the point where they start doubting each other and think about killing or living separately....Y'all, I'm finna start on the last book cause I need to see how this plays out and ends. Kiersten, you did something great here. #Book3of2025 #WhatsNext #Bookworm

My, my, my... this book was not what I expected. I loved it! All the twists and turns. Ansley and Peter's arrangement hade hooked. OK, Ansley proposed having an "open" marriage because things had gone dry in their marriage. The rules were that they had to date a person only once, they couldn't reveal anything true about themselves, and it couldn't interact or change their home life schedules. Peter was leary, at first. Ansley went a date first and it drove Peter crazy
The kids saw their momma dress pretty and wondered where she was going, she just replied a work thing. Peter was surprised she went through with it, he even stopped her before she left asking where she was going and the name of the date. Ansley didn't budge because it would go against the rules. Thing is the guy Ansley went on a date was a lil possessive and a cop. After the date, he wouldn't take no for an answer and shows up at their home. Things go completely left. This story is more than the arrangement but more about secrets, loyalty, the lengths one will do to save a marriage, love, and uncertainty. After I got past the arrangement portion, I went ahead and purchased the other two books in the series. I hope they stand up to the first one. If you're looking for a good book that will keep turning page after page, this is it. I think Kiersten Modglin is now one of my new favorite authors. #Book2of2025 #Whatsnext #BookWorm #ToyasBookClub

This is my last book of 2024, and it ended with a bang. This story gave me all the feels. Tabitha story gave way for Mariah and Savanah. Alike many Black families, the women are the matriarch and backbone of their families. They are the way makers, the ones who push through all the adversities and provide for their families despite the world telling them they can't and won't. I smiled throughout this story especially after every battle defeated. I loved how the author went back and forth between their great grandmother's past and their present. How their love for their Geechie Culture, cooking, and helping others. They had similarities just like we all would in our Genealogy Tree. Another plus is the author introducing therapy and showing that it's okay in our culture and how the elderly is more open to it than we think. You can pray to God and have a therapist! The way this family moved and developed generational wealth is everything. We are Strengthen when we are healed! The author also highlighted Love, naivety, hope, forgiveness, therapy, preserverance, post-partum depression. and so much more. #Book19of2024 #BookWorm #Whatsnext

Broken clocks are right twice a day.... 9:27. Layla and William's story gave me all the feels. There was so much similarity between Layla and me. I had to stop and start this book multiple times because of it. Going through cancer and having friends and family there to support me, whewwww. The man who was supposed to be there wasn't, but because of my friends and family, I'm here. Layla lived through cancer, too, yet..... William's care for Layla, whewwww, let's just say that's man, a real man. He had gotten Molly the Model pregnant while Layla and him were broken up. Layla couldn't have children, but somehow, it all worked. Being honest and truthful can save heartaches and relationships. Being sneaky and lying gets you nowhere. This story took me through some highs and lows, made me smile, and got me hot and bothered reading the sex scenes. Just like Layla, while going through cancer and chemo, I wrote letters to those important to me in my time of death and used my diagnosis to embrace everyday living. Time waits for no one....love those who love you, take advantage of the life you live, and seize the opportunities because just as Layla, our lives can be taken away from us in an instance. Danielle Allen did it again....#Book18of2024 #BookWorm #WhatsNext

Chileeeee 😏, Danielle Allen did it again. This is the perfect follow-up to "Sweatpants Season." Luca mf Romano......Now, where the hell do I sign up for cuffing season and my very own Luca, cause whewwww. Maybe the title should have been titled something else, but overall, the book was a 10/10. The sex scenes, misogyny, double standards, sexism, and even them funky Podcasters made their appearance in this book, too. Country boy finally wrote a check he couldn't cash. The care and attention to detail Luca gave to Serena..... uh uh uh 😳 😐. Danielle's characters are so real, so tangible. She needs her books turned to film, asap. Yeah, get this book, too. You won't regret it. It's UnPutDownable, for sure! #Book17of2024 #Bookworm

Y'all.... I ain't gone hold ya, I bought this book due to the book cover. #JudgeYourMomma But Danielle Allen is me, and I am her, we think a lot alike. The protagonist, Akila Bishara, a feminist, doesn't believe in objectifying men, was highly offended with the Podcasters "the lost boyz." "The lost boys" are known for the unconventional opinions and views on women and Akila, being Akila expresses her disdain in her writings and interviews. Akila is trying to elevate her writing by taking a photography class and is blinded by the pull of her classmate Carlos. Their sexual tensions and compatibility are off the charts. Unexpectedly, Akila falls for Carlos, but when she finds out that he's part of the lost Boyz, things get complicated. Danielle took me through all the feels. YESSSS, all women know the effect of grey sweatpants, but Carlos having a huge package made the story even better. The sex scenes, the descriptions, the way Carlos declared his love/feelings for Akila was/is EVERYTHING! Whewwww, Danielle Allen is now added to my list of favorite authors. Go check her and her books out. #Book16of2024 #Bookworm #whatsnext

Chileeeee 😏 this book was great. The girl friends' dialogue felt so familiar, like I was having a birds eye view with my gals. And the sex scenes, whewwww. Something about a man talking you through sex, whewwww. Hell, it left me in shambles, I need me an Ahmad cause he knows how to please a woman. Ok,okay, now the rest of the book was just as good, too. It addressed familial issues, from parental pressures of marriage and grandchildren. Health concerns, death, healing, trauma, and settling. Whewwww, I want more.
