Historia
The Latecomer follows the story of the wealthy, New York City-based Oppenheimer family, from the first meeting of parents Salo and Johanna, under tragic circumstances, to their triplets born during the early days of IVF. As children, the three siblings—Harrison, Lewyn, and Sally—feel no strong familial bond and cannot wait to go their separate ways, even as their father becomes more distanced and their mother more desperate. When the triplets leave for college, Johanna, faced with being truly alone, makes the decision to have a fourth child.

Historia
The prize-winning and best-selling author of Say Nothing presents a grand, devastating portrait of three generations of the Sackler family, famed for their philanthropy, whose fortune was built by Valium and whose reputation was destroyed by OxyContin. Empire of Pain is a masterpiece of narrative reporting and writing, exhaustively documented and ferociously compelling.

Reads like a Thriller
Revisado: 06-11-21
Wow, I had no idea who was really behind the opioid crisis and now I do! The Sackler family is the epitome of the accumulation of wealth and greed at no expense. Well put together and delivered as I enjoyed the author's subtle sarcasm as it was appropriate and relatable.
I like a good, true scandal and this one does not disappoint. In depth history of the family, their roots, their rise to accumulated wealth through genius and evil marketing ploys, along with deception and sheer lies.
This was insightful, interesting and informational as well as entertaining.

Historia
On an island off the coast of Ireland, guests gather to celebrate two people joining their lives together as one. The groom: handsome and charming, a rising television star. The bride: smart and ambitious, a magazine publisher. It’s a wedding for a magazine or for a celebrity: the designer dress, the remote location, the luxe party favors, the boutique whiskey. The cell phone service may be spotty and the waves may be rough, but every detail has been expertly planned and will be expertly executed.
