Historia
Seven generations of women in Susana Prather’s family have been lost to the Georgia swamp behind her house. The morning after her eighteenth birthday, she awakens soaked with water, with no memory of sleepwalking. No matter how she tries to stop it, she’s pulled from her safe bed night after night, haunted by her own family history and legacy. Now, the truth feels unavoidable: it’s only a matter of time before she loses her mind and the swamp becomes her grave.

More Christian romance than Southern Gothic
Revisado: 02-25-25
I think the blurb does this book a disservice. If I’d known it had so much YA Christian romance in it, I’d never have chosen it. I don’t fault the author for that though. I do give the book low marks though because it is repetitive and overlong, and topics are explained to death.

Such a compelling authorial voice!
Revisado: 06-29-20
A friend asked me if this was a true crime book that was chock-full of big discoveries and developments in the case. And I told him no, but that what I loved about the book is Michelle McNamara’s voice. She’s so engaging and such a compelling storyteller, full of sparkling intellect and humanity. I recommend for all readers (and listeners), even if true crime is not your thing.
