Historia
At least one-third of the people we know are introverts. They are the ones who prefer listening to speaking; who innovate and create but dislike self-promotion; who favor working on their own over working in teams. It is to introverts—Rosa Parks, Chopin, Dr. Seuss, Steve Wozniak—that we owe many of the great contributions to society.

The author normalized the introvert temperament. She lists the strengths that introverts bring to the table with interesting stories and research. I would highly recommend this book.

Even though I am not as brave as the author, and risk quitting my stressful job, I do see the value of going for what resonates with your authentic self. This is one of the wittiest books I’ve read and found myself routinely chuckling at her delivery of some great zingers. I am near retirement now so maybe after retirement I can finally move towards my heart’s passion and move to quadrant four where everything feels at peace. Do not hesitate to get this book as it provides many tools and delivers them in an entertaining way.

Historia
"Believing that something is wrong with us is a deep and tenacious suffering," says Tara Brach at the start of this illuminating book. This suffering emerges in crippling self-judgments and conflicts in our relationships, in addictions and perfectionism, in loneliness and overwork - all the forces that keep our lives constricted and unfulfilled. Radical Acceptance offers a path to freedom, including the day-to-day practical guidance developed over Dr. Brach's 20 years of work with therapy clients and Buddhist students.

This book was a paradigm shift for me. It came at the right time in my life. It is more than about anxiety. It is about living a life with purpose and fulfillment rather than avoidance. The only criticism I have was that her cadence had a halting rhythm. I had to speed it up but that was an easy fix.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

He is pompous and the repetitive “note to self” refrain was as grating as nails to a chalkboard. He thinks himself wiser than he is. I like his movies, not his books. Ugh.

Historia
Jennette McCurdy was six years old when she had her first acting audition. Her mother’s dream was for her only daughter to become a star, and Jennette would do anything to make her mother happy. So she went along with what Mom called “calorie restriction." She endured extensive at-home makeovers while Mom chided, “Your eyelashes are invisible, okay? You think Dakota Fanning doesn’t tint hers?” She was even showered by Mom until age sixteen while sharing her diaries, email, and all her income. In I’m Glad My Mom Died, Jennette recounts all this in unflinching detail.

Revisado: 08-16-22
I loved this memoir. Jeannette, the author was honest about her experiences. Her life is inspiring. She went through a lot of pressure as a young person and was able to survive the trauma inflicted by Hollywood and her mother. Despite her trauma bonding with her mother early in life, she was able to find and experience life on her own terms as a young adult. Get this book. You will be touched and inspired.

Historia
The Courage to Be Disliked, already an enormous best seller in Asia with more than 3.5 million copies sold, demonstrates how to unlock the power within yourself to be the person you truly want to be. Using the theories of Alfred Adler, one of the three giants of 20th-century psychology, The Courage to Be Disliked follows an illuminating conversation between a philosopher and a young man. The philosopher explains to his pupil how each of us is able to determine our own life, free from the shackles of past experiences, doubts, and the expectations of others.

Historia
Kat Chow has always been unusually fixated on death. She worried constantly about her parents dying---especially her mother. A vivacious and mischievous woman, Kat's mother made a morbid joke that would haunt her for years to come: when she died, she'd like to be stuffed and displayed in Kat's future apartment in order to always watch over her. After her mother dies unexpectedly from cancer, Kat, her sisters, and their father are plunged into a debilitating, lonely grief.
