Historia
I’m just a girl. And it turns out, I’m Hercules. I’m struggling to survive in a Titan infested world where Spartans, immortals from twelve royal families who have god-like powers and obscene wealth, rule over all. A shy-stammering foster child with nothing, I keep my head down, cover my scars, and focus on excelling in school. At least, I try to. Then it happens.

LOVE
Revisado: 02-22-25
I haven’t laughed, cried, been moved, blown away, unexpectedly surprised by a book in SO LONG. I love this. Especially the spin on Hercules, the internal monologue, and Nyx! I don’t know that was a reminder that good stories do exist.

Thank you for sharing the backstory openly, honestly and authentically. Such an enjoyable listen. Plus Michael Gonzales felt like a bonus! Black Excellence

Historia
When Rin aced the Keju - the Empire-wide test to find the most talented youth to learn at the Academies - it was a shock to everyone: to the test officials, who couldn’t believe a war orphan from Rooster Province could pass without cheating; to Rin’s guardians, who believed they’d finally be able to marry her off and further their criminal enterprise; and to Rin herself, who realized she was finally free of the servitude and despair that had made up her daily existence. That she got into Sinegard - the most elite military school in Nikan - was even more surprising.

Beautiful writing but ugh
Revisado: 11-09-22
I went in this KNOWING I would love the story and was met with a crying sniveling character that wallowed in herself. Stopped listening before the war even started because I kept rolling my eyes. I know some characters need to be beat down then built up but my lord. 11 hours of that was too much. Now the author is TALENTED in her writing style. Perhaps better read in paper back.

I LOVE the series but POC described oddly
Revisado: 10-26-22
I thought book two would be better but the way the author describes BIPOC is soooo cringe. It’s almost like she’s only seen/heard about them on tv or pictures. I’m sure it’s not intentional at all but every time she tries, it’s using words that are shocking, peculiar, or down right stereotypical. Doesn’t take away from the story but I rolled my eyes a lot of felt uncomfortable at the most random moments. It just feels like maybe they’re should be some BIPOC in the publishing process.
