Historia
A discarded child fated to become a powerful Jarl - here is the story of Sidroc. Fate guides the path of his father, Hrald, to his meeting with the woman whose son would help change the face of ninth-century Angle-land. An ever-growing rivalry between Sidroc and his cousin Toki defines the boys' early years. Their young uncle, Yrling, knows success as a raider in far-off Angle-land, and trains his nephews in the ways of the warrior. Ahead of them is the perilous crossing of the North Sea, which stands between them and the plunder they seek.

Can’t wait for the next one! Listened to the series twice already…the narrator does a great job and I love that the narrator remains the same throughout the whole series

I loved the story! It was a blend of historical fiction with a little fantasy. I wish there was a sequel!

Very Slow, narrator didn’t really distinguish character voices
Revisado: 02-26-24
Very slow, narrator didn’t really distinguish character voices making it difficult to follow. The story was ok but the ending was so ridiculously unbelievable for something in the historical fiction genre. I liked the main character and wish it was more focused on him and his history

A silly, implausible storyline with cute character
Revisado: 10-25-23
I like the narrator a lot but as an exclusive reader of historical fiction, the storyline and plot was ridiculous if not outright childish but it was a somewhat easy listen, once I got over the annoyance of the storyline. The characters were well written but as other reviewers have said, there’s really nothing immersive into the period.

Good story but the narrator was awful…..
Revisado: 09-13-23
It’s always so disappointing to have a great story overshadowed by a bad narrator. His French accent left me clueless as to what he was saying about 10% of the story and his “angry yelling” and cartoonish voice would’ve had me return the book if the storyline wasn’t so intriguing.

Tumultuous. Passionate. Timeless. The marriage between Eleanor of Aquitaine and Henry Plantagenet was like no other, born of power, politics, and an all-consuming, fiery love. Within two years of their wedding, Henry conquered England and together they ruled a vast kingdom. At first they worked to unify and repair their war-torn lands - before being torn apart by intrigue, adultery, and deadly revenge.

Great Book….except for the narrator.
Revisado: 08-14-23
The story was wonderful but if it wasn’t for the story, I would’ve returned it because of the narrator. A few of the key characters were good but the breathy, annoying voice of Thomas Beckett was cringe-worthy which she also applied to a few other characters along with overly childish voices for others

The narrator was horrible
Revisado: 03-04-21
If it wasn’t for the fact I wanted to finish the last book in the series I would’ve returned the title as soon as I heard the ridiculous voice she uses for Scarlet.
The author and the story were great but definitely found it hard to listen and miss the narrator from the other books.
