Historia
Simon and Vicky couldn’t seem more normal: a wealthy Chicago couple, he a respected law professor, she an advocate for domestic violence victims. A stable, if unexciting marriage. But one thing’s for sure: absolutely nothing is what it seems. The pair are far from normal, and one of them just may be a killer. When the body of a beautiful socialite is found hanging in a mansion in a nearby suburb, Simon and Vicky’s secrets begin to unravel. A secret whirlwind affair. A twenty-million-dollar trust fund about to come due.

Great Story, Well-Written
Revisado: 04-02-25
This author really has the gift of storytelling, with plots and twists that I didn’t even imagine. So great to finally read a solid murder/suspense that isn’t trite or bland.

Trigger warning!
Revisado: 03-02-25
The review of the book does not give any sort of detailed description of the theme, and I never would’ve purchased this book. Had I known it was about postpartum depression that details horrific thoughts of killing a baby. I never read books about child abuse, and this book should definitely display the theme in the overall book description. I know of many people who simply can’t handle this topic. on top of that, I found the book quite boring and I didn’t finish it for both of those reasons

This was a great plot and had me wondering what in the world was going on the first half (in a good way), then it came rolling out. Good narration. Great story

Unique and satisfying!

I thought this was such a great story and well developed. It moved in a nice pace and had a storyline that could be true in today’s world once I realized what was going on. I did not envision where it was going, and I love that because it means she did a good job with the details in the overall experience.

For 15 years, Lexi and Jake have played the same six numbers with their friends. Over drinks, dinner parties and summer barbecues, the three couples have discussed the important stuff — kids, marriages, careers — and they’ve laughed off their disappointment when they failed to win anything.

So boring.
Revisado: 12-12-24
This book was exceptionally long and could have been 3 1/2 hours shorter. There was so much repetition in talking about going shopping and what they bought and what they want to do with the money, but it honestly took up hours of this book instead of the actual story. I ended up fast forwarding to the end just to see what the whole point was about, which was summed up in the last hour.

Historia
Now reduced to a schoolyard chant, the Hope family murders shocked the Maine coast one bloody night in 1929. While most people assume seventeen-year-old Lenora was responsible, the police were never able to prove it. Other than her denial after the killings, she has never spoken publicly about that night, nor has she set foot outside Hope’s End, the cliffside mansion where the massacre occurred.

Ridiculous plot twists
Revisado: 11-24-24
Mostly slow and boring, then the end picks up speed and you’re glad it’s almost over yet, yet you are barely interested in who committed the murders by then. But then he takes it a step further and throws in plot twist after plot twist that almost feels cheap and I wish I had never read it.

Too long and drawn out
Revisado: 10-23-24
There was no action or true suspense. Very boring. The narration was OK, but by the time the story was over the twist didn’t even feel like a twist and I didn’t care anymore.

A lot of the story was letters from one of the main characters, and it felt like everything was simply being explain to you without fully getting engaged in the story. It made it very boring at times.

Narrator sounds like a reporter
Revisado: 05-14-24
This is book one in a three book series. I’ll start by saying that after I read book 2 I don’t even care to read book 3 this whole story. Mine was amateurish and a bit embarrassing. I say, embarrassing because if I were to write a book, this is not the crime/thriller/domestic read I wouldn’t want to put my name to. The narrator for the female had the tone of a news reporter, and it was so annoying I wanted to scream. Not sure why I listened to the second book other than I was mildly curious about the story because book one ends with a twist. I started clicking the 30 second skip just to get through it. Again, wasted money on a preposterous storyline and an annoying narrator and amateur-hour author. I hope she steers her riding in a different direction because she’s got the attention of her publishing company and maybe she will put these types of stories to rest.

Great story and flow
Revisado: 08-17-23
I liked the ability for the author to hold my attention and keep a storyline moving with varying levels. On the performance, there was a tapping sound like a door closing the whole time. I listened to the book so I think something was off with the recording, but the book itself, and the story was great.
