Historia
The Revelation: A name given to an event that, five years ago, changed the world forever. In a single day, humanity discovered that not only were they not alone, but they were not exactly at the top of the food chain. Living in the shadows for millennia, supernaturals now had no choice but to finally come into the light. Because of the fury of a mad god, humans and supernaturals now had to learn to coexist side by side for the first time in living memory. With the revelation that magic was not only real but far more common than fairy tales led them to believe, a new society had to be born.

His first kiss? Sure.
Revisado: 06-21-24
I REALLY struggled with this book, and as of writing this I honestly don't know if I will finish it despite being several hours in. While it is not the worst book I've read, it is unfortunately one I will likely only ever finish out of a desire to be truly done with it.
The voice actors did fine for the most part and I'll happily look at their other work, but I can't say the same for the author as it stands.
I came into this story knowing it was Harem thanks to other comments, which is why I thought I could tolerate it if the story surrounding it was interesting enough. That thought process was shattered the moment we meet the initial love interest. It was then dragged through the shards into a pool and slowly drowned as we continued to go down a rabbit hole of progressively more unreasonable social interactions. Leading to a comment about Leo's first kiss that finally pulled me from suspended disbelief to incredulous disinterest.
There is a way to write a harem protagonist who is inexperienced with intamacy. That is not him being enamored with his first kiss chapters after jerking off in a strangers hand as part of their introduction. This dynamic is just the tip of the proverbial iceberg and this berg runs deep.
If I were able to, I would have genuinely advised the author to drop the premise of this being a university of magic and instead should of been a university about intamcy in a magical world. At least the actions of nearly every single character would have felt justifiable in that context. Unfortunately, the tone and premise are so disjointed from the actual expression of the story that I can't tell if it would be better off in either direction. I don't know if I'd prefer what scraps of story I gleamed completely without the intamcy or if I'd prefer it just being outright erotica. Yet as it stands I know there are better stories out there in the same vein that thread this needle well enough to overlook flaws. I just don't see that with this one.

Historia
Morgan Mars is doing everything he can to protect humanity from alien invasion. But even his new organization, The First Line of Defence, isn’t enough to save what’s already lost. Sectors are collapsing like dominoes as the aftermath of the 20th Cycle invasion leaves everyone trapped in the falling Sectors. No one knows what to do. No one, that is, except Nicholas Thistlebush. He has a plan to save Sector 6. The only question is, what will it cost him?

Finding faith during the apocalypse lite edition
Revisado: 03-27-24
Look, I came here expecting more about our favorite Martian overlord like many of you. If that's what you want from this book may not interest you. If you like the universe as it currently stands and find exploring it interesting this will still be an enjoyable listen.
Morgan, the former MC, is stunlocked for essentially the entire book due to events he caused in game, while dealing with coming to terms with a relationship he didn't expect.
Our new, and what I suspect, temporary MC is Nicholas. An old man placed in a young man's body living in the world Morgan changed with his actions in Book 1. Nicholas, like Morgan, is placed in a position of immense power and responsibility, but with the burden of having directly benefited from and experienced the consequences of Morgan's actions. Because of this Nicholas struggles with finding meaning and purpose as his efforts to save his entire sector cause consequences he never could have foreseen. One of which is coming to terms with Faith and the consideration of God's or God. This theme, and the exploration of these thoughts, is pervasive throughout the book as Nicholas struggles with his world view. This at times is honestly unwelcome due to the nature of the setting which is in a world where aging and health care issues are resolved at the drop of a token. Causing the bite and sting of the subject of loss and pain to come off as a bitter pill, rather than an interesting exploration of philosophy in a science fiction setting.
Ultimatelt this story appears to be setting up the organization which comprises the First Line of Defense. Which leaves the possibility of us seeing the world through multiple protagonists eyes with Morgan being the binding that keeps all these stories together. I don't known if that's necessarily what I want from this story. So my final verdict will just have to wait until book 3.

Yeah Chief, weird priorities.
Revisado: 03-04-24
I have had a mixed relationship with this series and really struggled with the first book due to the constant objectification distracting from any attempt at a plot. I only got this far because it died down enough to start telling a story by book 2. I mean look, I get it, harem literature is about sexy women and power fantasy men. But the reason I struggle with these books it because the male gaze is often juvenile in its expression and it has never been more obvious in this series than in this book and its honestly just disappointing.
You have a character who literally breaks people's psyche, who the author spent the entire book building up how she did absolutely heinous things that were unforgivable. Only to have the main characters inner monolog, that she can hear, struggling to accept that she slept with hundreds of other men but not even batting an eye at the people she murdered.
I don't know where the author is in their life that having a girlfriend who slept around, because she was psychologically tortured by her own powers (80+ years before they met), is worse than having a girlfriend who accidentally committed mass murder, and knowingly committed torture. At the end of the day the story built up a giant nothing burger while forcefully breaking my immersion all to slut-shame a character who deserves better.
if he kept everything else involved in the forgiveness element and reminded her that he intentionally diced the top super hero in an act of revenge and that comparatively she had made accidents and spiraled afterwards I could have kept listening. I have no idea if I'll continue this series at this point, but come on.

Historia
After escaping the Underworld and reuniting with his daughter, you would think Noah had earned himself a rest. But newly arrived on an alternate version of Earth created by the Roman gods, Noah needs to find his missing son, Jim, while avoiding the further machinations of the gods. Noah quickly finds himself at the center of a plot by the Norns, the Norse goddesses of Fate, to keep this new world’s history unchanged from the old—even if it takes a bloodbath to do it. Pursued at sea by pirates and an ancient demigod, Noah must decide on which side of history he wants to stand.

Historia
Felix had risked everything to stop the threat of the Unending Maw. Except instead of death, he and his Companion Pit were transported to the deadly Void, a place far worse than the Foglands. The Maw is there with them, bonded somehow to Felix in a way none of them understand, but all of them hate. The three must navigate the desolate expanse of the dark Void, contending with voidbeasts, marauders, and the creeping influence of the Maw itself. It will take everything that Felix has—and more—merely to survive, let alone escape. All choices have consequences.

Short but sweet, jump into Book 3 Now!
Revisado: 07-30-22
As a rule of thumb I like to warn ahead of time that I generally listen to books at 2.6 - 3.0 * speed, so it's a pleasure when I find myself with a 9+ hour experience. Inflections that might otherwise be clear can be lost at slower speeds, see "The Way of Kings" for examples.
* Discalimer * I understand why, on this books own, this was unsatisfying; as a Series binger it does not stand on its own due to the erratic difference in length and thus substance. However, it is absolutely necessary for the rest of the story heading into book three, and if you enjoyed book one, book two is world shaping for book three and is worth experiencing.
* Overall *
It's a good short story that introduces new dynamics, explores elements of the world and stages the next book, serves as the proverbial "Dragon Age 2" of the series. The Maw is an interesting but sadly under developed predatory mentor, but ultimately this book had to happen to get to book 3.

Historia
Felix's life on Earth had become a series of dead-end jobs, ruined relationships, and rotating apartments smaller than most postage stamps. By all accounts, even his own, he was a coward. Too afraid to move forward, to take risks. Yet when given the chance to choose between risking his life or walking away from a deadly encounter, he didn't hesitate. Moments before his untimely demise, Felix was snatched from earth and thrust into a magical world known only as "The Continent". Empowered by the "System", he learns that he can strengthen himself through combat and dedication.

This Series is worth exploring!
Revisado: 07-30-22
* Disclaimer *
As a rule of thumb I like to warn ahead of time that I generally listen to books at 2.6 - 3.0 * speed, so it's a pleasure when I find myself with a 9+ hour experience. Inflections that might otherwise be clear can be lost at slower speeds in stories like this one, see Brandon Sanderson's Audiobook of "The Way of Kings" for examples.
* tldr *
It's good, actively skip the stat sheets and nearly all of the 1-3 star reviews can be tossed out. Slow Start Act 1, Interesting Act 2, Captivating Act 3, Enjoyable Act 4.
Act 1 Intro, world building, and the Companion.
Act 2 Metting a villain in his volcano...
Act 3 Meeting other people, finally!
Act 4 Rescue?
* Is it worth long term investment? *
Absolutely, alot of reviews of book 2 complain its short, but its necessary and understandable, book 3 carries the weight that book 2 might be missing and then some. Finishing Book 3, I came back to review book 1 explicitly to make clear that this series has legs and is worth the time investment, hands down.
* Recommendations for listening *
Like with most people on audible I like to browse reviews before I commit to buying a book. Many of them made it clear that the book heavily relied on the stat sheet and I can confirm it comes up ALOT. I can also say firmly that thanks to my ability to skip 30 seconds at a time, I was blessedly unaffected by it in a negative way. Book 1 is not recommended for a long car ride if you are the driver though! Please, skip the stat sheet when ever you're uninterested, it WILL Negatively shape your perspective of the book, especially at slower speeds, and the author does a good job avoiding the issue in the later books.
* Performance *
I am already a fan of the voice performer thanks to his range and general tone across other works, his accent is unoffensive to me, so I can enjoy a broad range of his content without it seriously influencing my perception of the MC. That being said, I listen to him at high speed, user experience may vary.
* Introduction *
The story itself is pretty standard for the first act, up until he meets his animal companion and, to be candid, it is not a great introduction to what really hooks you into the story as a whole. Act one suffers from a single person perspective of the world where the MC doesnt really have a guide, and unfortunately, this also means that the story comes off aimless. This is always one of the hardest areas for any writer because the vision of the story and the MC organically grows and changes and there are absolutely growing pains in this book. That being said Its first hook to actually stick with me came in around act 2, it really hits its stride in my opinion during act 3, when the MC comes into contact with other people and never really loses it from there.
* The Story * The Story itself is an enjoyable Isekai, fish out of water, fast growing, Over Powered MC. The character faces plenty of challenges and at times survives stuff that seems absurd. The main complaint I saw from low reviews involved people complaining that the character is OP but then also dim witted and unable to min max his potential, and to that I say, GOOD. The fun of the story is the fact he doesn't know everything and in the moment is both limited by his perspective and his understanding of the world. The fact he has a perfect memory doesn't make him omniscient and that's what makes slanted characters tolerable. He is a relatively good guy who found himself in an insane situation and while he gets with the program quickly, he doesn't fall into either trope of being too onboard or too disgruntled through the currently released books.
* The Series * Again, this book has growing pains, but each book that follows does a good job of fleshing things out and avoiding the older flaws. Book 3 *Hunger" is the author at this Series's finest so far and I am excited to see what he does next. This series deserves a serious shot. If you like the character interactions book 3 especially seals the deal on that front.
