I just love this.

I can't explain why this story resonates with me so much but it does. I am not sure if the story or the performance is better but both are great! The narrator is amazing. I feel like I could be in her shoes and hope I would do the same thing in her situation. Didn't like the daughter though - I think she is kinda mean SMH haha.

Historia
NYC, 2013. During late night trips on the A train, we get snapshots of Tyrone's life - his close relationship with his mother, his attempts to flirt with a coworker, Niesha, his job as a bouncer, and his dreams of going back to school. As new traumas accumulate, Tyrone's world becomes as claustrophobic as the subway car, with as few opportunities to exit or change course.

Hard to explain!
Revisado: 04-01-21
I have no idea why I like this book but I really do. I hated the ending. One of the main characters was soooooo annoying it doesn't make sense that the conversation continued. That said, I even really like the annoying character. I see myself listening to this one again and again!!!

I loved hearing all of the positivity and empowerment! Mostly in awe of the survivor stories!

Historia
Less than 250,000 people live in the Northern Territory, an area more than twice the size of Texas. If you want to escape from civilisation, you don’t have to go far. But you can’t outrun the heat. Every year during October and November the sweltering climate can drive people wild; they call it ‘Suicide Season’, ‘Mango Madness’ or, more plainly, ‘The Build-up’. It’s during this blistering heat that Jim O’Connell’s body is found in a creek bed, mummified and with his genitals removed.

Tough story but no happy ending in true crime
Revisado: 07-30-20
Fair representation to all but I can't help feeling sympathy for Jim's mom and the rest of his family. Mark too. I wanted to hug him at the end! Parts were hard to hear and many of the accents are very heavy so that part may be an issue for some. I wanted a nice clean story with "SOLVED" stamped on the ending. While I believe the evidence is there to support the truth, nobody really wins when a man lost his life.

Okay story but the ending???
Revisado: 03-28-20
The story was pretty basic and fine for passing the time but the ending was off. All the way up to the very end I thought I knew how it would play out. I actually wasn't too far off but I needed a reason that would explain why the characters were able to act the way they did in the end. I am disappointed that there wasn't any apparent reason.

Historia
Tiffy and Leon share an apartment. Tiffy and Leon have never met. After a bad breakup, Tiffy Moore needs a place to live. Fast. And cheap. But the apartments in her budget have her wondering if astonishingly colored mold on the walls counts as art. Desperation makes her open minded, so she answers an ad for a flatshare. Leon, a night shift worker, will take the apartment during the day, and Tiffy can have it nights and weekends. He'll only ever be there when she's at the office. In fact, they'll never even have to meet.

Awesome story and performance!
Revisado: 01-18-20
I was a little unsure of Kwaku Fortune at first because I thought he must have been omitting a lot of words. He wasn't! As you get to know Leon you understand it is all tied to his personality. Carrie Hope Fletcher was a great Tiffy too! I know there will be people who will say the premise is unbelievable (who would share. bed with a stranger?!) and I admit I was skeptical. The author did a great job selling it though.
I have no problem listening to my audiobooks multiple times but rarely ever do I listen to the same book back to back. I finished this book about 10 minutes ago and as soon as I'm done with this review I am starting again.

AWESOME STORY/WELL READ
Revisado: 02-19-12
If you could sum up Insomnia in three words, what would they be?
very good book
Did the plot keep you on the edge of your seat? How?
It is a little bit of a slow starter, but well worth the initial bump.
What about Eli Wallach’s performance did you like?
I heard a preview and didn't think I was going to like his reading. However it didn't take long for me to discover he could BE Ralph Roberts.
If you could rename Insomnia, what would you call it?
Insomnia. Perfect title.
Any additional comments?
I love the Stephen King books that are a little weird, not entirely plausabile but not way out there. Bag of Bones is my all time favorite book of any genre.
