Historia
When our protagonist, Andrei, discovers that his girlfriend has cheated on him, he finds himself with an unexpected choice to make: a quick death or a new life in another world he knows absolutely nothing about. Andrei chooses life and sets off alongside his pet, a ginger cat with a limp, for a primeval world fraught with danger. The trouble is...who is whose pet becomes entirely unclear; the man's consciousness is split between both creatures, and the little cat gets a far greater share of intelligence and wit than his hulking master.

surprisingly enjoyable!

Once I speeded up the playback I enjoyed listening. I really got into the whole world building. Andre and the kitten Whiskers as they learned the rules of gameplay and advancement. from the artwork I expected the story to be more juvenile and the absence of swearing would indicate a younger target audience. However I really liked the plot, character development, the parts of this new world not yet explained. I'm looking forward to finding the next book in a (hopefully) series

George
Revisado: 04-21-23
Good talk and I agree that Deena wasn't the main mover and shaker. To point out that in The Edge series from Illona Andrews, George and his brother and cousin are important characters. Readers meet George , etc al, as young children. The books in The Edge series have the children growing up in skill and power. So, for me, having George and friends show up was a major squee moment as crossover characters coming into the Innkeeper world. I absolutely was entranced by George's deviousness. I was delighted how Deena figured him out and ended up getting him to bow to her authority.

Good story, got used to narrator.
Revisado: 03-09-22
[audiobook] At first, I had a hard time with the cadence of the narrator. But after awhile it was easy to tell apart the various characters. I was completely caught up with the story and ended up really loving this story and the production.
I love the Alpha & Omega storyline in Mercy Thompsons world. Anna and Charles make a great team, and Tag is a wonderful self-described henchman. Also enjoyed the touch of Lovecraft to flavor this rich world of werewolves, witches, and Coyote the Trickster.

Very good - did seem a bit short
Revisado: 09-01-21
As always, a good story in the Fred the Vampire Accountant series. The beginning was explosive and tense. Fred's solution was apt. Nevertheless it felt a bit short in overall length. I wish there had been more details of the antics and unique approach to life of the various clan members. I think this book will be a "bridge" to a more aggressive and on-guard Fred. His naive wish to be left in peace is fading as he grows wiser and more proactive in protecting his clan.

Ended up loving this book 2
Revisado: 09-01-21
I'm not sure why I had a bit of difficulty getting into Bloodhound when I absolutely loved book one. but once I was in a few chapters, I devoured this story! I love Becca. she is not some way overpowered character, so her triumphs are all the more satisfying. Especially since she could not rely on Pounce to guide or rescue her. I loved the addition of Achoo, the scent dog, and I was saddened when one of Becca's little family was killed. This was an excellent second in this series. All the characters are growing, aging, improving, or else deliberately chosing to stay fixed in their misguided thinking to their own detrement.

Wonderful story, Wonderful performances
Revisado: 08-30-21
Author Gordon Kormam has another terrific YA book here. The ensemble voice actors are spot on.. Loosely this story involves an entitled rich brat, an isolated bare bones Wholeness Camp, dysfunctional adults, kids coping, a mysterious and possibly criminal mansion, a unique baby pet, and adventures that lead to an explosive and satisfying conclusion. I hope this YA book is turned into a well adapted movie along the lines as *Holes* or *Hoot*
YA is one of my favorite categories as an adult reader. YA Authors must convey their tale through plot and character development rather than gratuitous language or adult behavior as filler. As a retired middle school librarian I wish I still had a building full of kids to introduce to Jett and his friends as they grow up in their individual ways. Highly recommended!

Historia
It is the summer of 2013, and Abigail Kamara has been left to her own devices. This might, by those who know her, be considered a mistake. While her cousin, police constable and apprentice wizard Peter Grant, is off in the sticks chasing unicorns, Abigail is chasing her own mystery. Teenagers around Hampstead Heath have been going missing, but before the police can get fully engaged, the teens return home - unharmed but vague about where they've been.

Delightful!
Revisado: 06-26-21
While I love Peter Grant stories, Abigail is a delight. Sassy, street-smart, scheming like her fox companions, she is as full of magic as she is with hidden tenderness. I look forward to her future.

Naturally the book itself is better, but this full cast recording was really good. The music interludes are actually beautiful ... (but I found them annoying. Mixed a bit too loud and a bit too long for my taste.)

Worth the initial effort!
Revisado: 04-08-21
By the end of this book, I loved it. I struggled at first, especially with the snarky game stats that seemingly interrupted the flow of the story. But by the end of this book I was able to recognize these stat announcements as another character entity. I loved the concept of a Bibliomancer, and the skill building. The * immersed in a video game world * concept is not a new one anymore, and other offerings in this genre have smoother starts. Nevertheless, I recommend delving into this world! Satisfying, funny, and wanting to get book 2 as soon as possible!
