Historia
Maggie is fine. She’s doing really good, actually. Sure, she’s broke, her graduate thesis on something obscure is going nowhere, and her marriage only lasted 608 days, but at the ripe old age of twenty-nine, Maggie is determined to embrace her new life as a Surprisingly Young Divorcée™.

I must have missed a lot of hidden meanings
Revisado: 04-15-23
This book did nothing for me, I am actually surprised that I finished it, but I kept believing there had to be something to the story other than the main character lamenting her marriage failed. I saw this on a morning show, NBC, I believe, saying it was one of the best books out but I disagree.

Lots of dog fighting tales from the perspective of the dog, and guess what, at the end, the dog gets tamed or trained and saves his master.

More than her story
Revisado: 07-11-18
As a lawyer who has worked for a large demanding law firm, I could relate to the emotions. I don’t follow Fox but this book is so much bigger than Megan’s personal background or Fox. Megyn shares a relatable perspective on life and decisionmaking. Her words are so well put, very descriptive and demonstrable. The editor did a great job. Megyn read the story in a very compelling manner and like it was just happening. She must have kept a terrific journal.

Historia
Assurance of faith is the conviction that one belongs to Christ through faith and will enjoy everlasting salvation. It is more than believing the gospel - it is believing that these truths apply to you. Having assurance affects life in more ways than forgiveness of sin, alleviation of guilt, and salvation from the punishment of hell - it affects your whole being, firing up your affections for Christ, your unshakable trust in God, your burden for the unsaved and your joy in life and even death.

can't get through it
Revisado: 12-06-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The tone of the author is difficult to take seriously. All the Bible references are distracting from the story. I think there's a good message in here but between the reference interruptions to the story and the reader's tone hard to take seriously I had to stop listening. Maybe it would be a good book in print.
What was most disappointing about Joel R. Beeke’s story?
The Bible references are important but constantly interrupt the message.
How could the performance have been better?
Different tone, put references at end as endnotes.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
frustration

From the award-winning, New York Times best-selling author of The Monsters of Templeton, Arcadia, Florida and Matrix, an exhilarating novel about marriage, creativity, art, and perception. Fates and Furies is a literary masterpiece that defies expectation. A dazzling examination of a marriage, it is also a portrait of creative partnership written by one of the best writers of her generation. Every story has two sides. Every relationship has two perspectives.

I almost it the book down because of the creepy sex obsession but eventually the author made sense of the events by revealing the story from the minds of the various players, explaining how rough events in someone's past play into their future in a way others miss.

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
The story was a little bizarre. I think it will make a great book. I'm glad I read it but don't think I comprehended everything I need to.

Historia
The debut psychological thriller that will forever change the way you look at other people's lives. Every day the same. Rachel takes the same commuter train every morning and night. Every day she rattles down the track, flashes past a stretch of cozy suburban homes, and stops at the signal that allows her to daily watch the same couple breakfasting on their deck. She’s even started to feel like she knows them. Jess and Jason, she calls them. Their life - as she sees it - is perfect. Not unlike the life she recently lost.

This book will suck you in
Revisado: 05-12-15
Where does The Girl on the Train rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
This is the best audiobook I have listened to so far because of the story, writing and the performance of the storytellers. Their voices are so pleasant to hear. I really enjoyed this book.
What other book might you compare The Girl on the Train to and why?
My friend said this book reminded her of Gone Girl, and she is correct.
Which character – as performed by the narrators – was your favorite?
I thought Rachael was my favorite but toward the last 1/2, I started enjoying listening to Anna.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
This book left me hungry for more. I hope there is a sequel or more books by this author.

Historia
Fiona Maye is a High Court judge in London presiding over cases in family court. She is fiercely intelligent, well respected, and deeply immersed in the nuances of her particular field of law. Often the outcome of a case seems simple from the outside, the course of action to ensure a child's welfare obvious. But the law requires more rigor than mere pragmatism, and Fiona is expert in considering the sensitivities of culture and religion when handing down her verdicts.

The best part of the book is the ending.

Everyone needs boundaries is the moral of the book. The author has a wide vocabulary. The ending left me pondering life.
