Historia
An extravagant neo-baroque artist and outspoken proto-feminist, the mercurial Romana Laura Anzi survived Mussolini and the Nazis, risked her life carrying messages for the Italian Resistance, and wound up marrying a wisecracking bespectacled GI journalist who fought in the Italian Campaign then stayed on in Rome to woo her. Romana was the author’s mother. The GI—Charles E. Downie, Jr.—was his father.

Absolutely mind bending
Revisado: 03-21-25
I thoroughly enjoyed this memoir. It was fascinating in every way(1) characters, (2) settings and (3) loaded with historical facts and references. David shares the story with total candor and a subtle sense of humor and tragidy

Historia
From the author of the #1 New York Times bestseller This Town, the eyewitness account of how the GOP collaborated with Donald Trump to transform Washington’s “swamp” into a gold-plated hot tub—and a onetime party of rugged individualists into a sycophantic personality cult.

Slightly disappointed. !
Revisado: 08-07-22
I admire and love Mark Leibovich. He is smart, entertaining and very informative . However, I thought this book was a trifle light on in depth analysis. In addition, Joe Barrett has to be an A level narrator but in this instance , in my option, he didn’t make the grade. Besides Mark’s words , he has a wonderfully warm and confident voice which delivers his message in a most agreeable way . Joe ‘s delivery couldn’t match or improve upon the words. Robert Fisher
