Historia
In contemporary Miami, twins Delfi and Lela are haunted by a family curse that poisons any chance at romantic love. It’s no wonder their mother forbids them from getting involved with magic. When Lela and Delfi receive premonitions of a mysterious killer targeting brujas, however, the sisters must embrace their emerging powers to save innocent lives. Teaming up with their best friend Ethan and brooding detective-in-training Andres, Delfi and Lela set out to catch a murderer on a dangerous hunt that will force them to confront the dark secrets of their family’s past.

Historia
Carmen and Grace have been inseparable since they were little girls—more like sisters than cousins, survivors of a childhood marked by neglect and addiction and a system that never valued them. For too long, all they had was each other. That is, until Doña Durka swept into their lives and changed everything, taking Grace into her home, providing stability and support, and playing an outsize role in Carmen’s upbringing too.

A book I did not know I needed.
Revisado: 04-22-23
I loved everything about this book!! It’s a must read for the culture and a love letter to all the girls who grew up poor, brown and forgotten. We can change our reality by the choices we make. Remember to find God in yourself and love her unconditionally !!

Historia
Sarai is a first-generation Puerto Rican question asker who can see with clarity the truth, pain, and beauty of the world both inside and outside her Bushwick apartment. Together with her older sister, Estrella, she navigates the strain of family traumas and the systemic pressures of toxic masculinity and housing insecurity in a rapidly gentrifying Brooklyn. Sarai questions the society around her, her Boricua identity, and the life she lives with determination and an open heart, learning to celebrate herself in a way that she has long been denied.

This book revoked so much raw emotion I didn’t even know I was holding on to. This book is amazing, it’s beautiful and ugly at the same time. Elisabet Velasquez thank you for representing and giving our people a voice.

Wow wow wow
Revisado: 12-09-22
What is there not to like about this book ? The narrator was amazing. Her performance is always too tier. The author really did something right with this one. Magic, love, Caribbean culture, food, family and a plot twist no one was prepared for. I literally fell in love with the characters and felt like I was part of the Thomas family. I laugh, cried and everything in between. Buy this book you won’t regret it!!

Historia
Echo Ridge is small-town America. Ellery's never been there, but she's heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age 17. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now, Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows. The town is picture-perfect, but it's hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone has declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.

Loved it!!
Revisado: 07-25-19
Good book it kept me interested all the way through. It took me a while to get used to having two narrators. At first I almost stopped listening when I realized the book was told through two points of view, but I did not and I’m glad I continued listening. The story was great, I just wish that Kirby Heyborne did not sound like a robot. The narrators have two different reading styles and it threw me off a little. All in all I would definitely recommend the book. I loved it and will be purchasing others from this author.
